Since 1990, every team that has won the national championship (except USC's repeat year in 2004) have visited the White House. However, this year's champs haven't been able to schedule a visit.

Note that every major champion gets to the White House. The Connecticut men's and woman's basketball teams have already visited, as has Navy's football team to get the Commander in Chief's trophy.

So why has it been so difficult to schedule the 'Noles? Some possibilities:

1. Obama has been too busy with international crises
2. Having the 'Noles might appear hypocritical after the condemnation of the Redskins
3. Having the 'Noles might seem hypocritical given that the Dept of Edu has initiated a Title IX investigation into the school's handling of Winstons' alleged sexual assault
4. Obama has been too busy with golf dates
5. Obama has been too busy with fund raisers

Ask me three times in a week, and you might get three different answers.

The White House has a nice stash of crab legs, and they dont want them to go missing....

Hard to fit them in between golf and ******* up foreign policy.

The great possibility of another silly “JV” comment coming to light.

Why on God's Earth would They want to meet Obama?

If I were a member of a team that was invited to the white house to meet Obama, I would pass.

I don't think it's properly respectful of the office to tell the president to go f*** himself, and I can't really think of anything else that I would want to say to this one.

What? Pass the chance to meet a President and see the White House because you disagree with the guy?

I'm not sure declining the meet the President makes the statement one thinks it makes. Seems like the only loser in that decision is the person who didn't get a once in the lifetime chance to meet the President of the United States of America and visit the White House. Obama moves onto with his life of High Crimes and Misdemeanors with nary a second glance, you miss out on history.

I've been to the white house more than once and I've met more than one president. It's no thrill to me.

Might I feel different if this were my only chance to do either? I don't know, can't really answer that. I can only speak for certain about where I am.

In relation to your comment of passing on the invitation as a member of a national championship team, I would bet a fair amount of money that few NCAA champion team members have the wealth and depth of experience you and I have.....

Perhaps, but as I made clear in my original post and prior response, I can only answer for myself in my current status.
