Game Week - Morgan State
Starting a new thread so we can have a 'bucket' to put other topics:

1). What unis will we wear Saturday night? Can't be gray. All green? Green/black,? I'd prefer something exciting but on a gray field our options are somewhat limited.

Here is what the Morgan road unis look like - dark blue/orange with base white:

http://www.morganstatebears.com/index.as...foot&tab=0

(should be colorful with a dark gray field, Morgan: white/dark blue/orange and EMU in green and black ???).

2). How big a crowd? (mostly the energized followers, us, or pumped up students and locals too?)

3). Weather will be hot and possible 'T' word. Heat might be to our advantage as we have more depth then Morgan (esp. with a limited travel squad).

BTW, remember the all green unis, green helmets, green turf.

"Nothing but Green" - but it wasn't marketed that way. Lol.

I would expect the largest crowd of the season, not that this is saying a lot. Usually due to move in with freshmen, the orientation organizers do a good job of making sure all the new students are in the stands (at least for the first half). As always, put up a dominating win, and you will get some of those freshmen back for the next game.

RE: Game Week - Morgan State
I know we are starting a ®freshman at QB, but I'm gonna be mostly intrigued by the defense. Last year, and FCS team carved us up on the ground and we needed a huge come from behind victory. Will the same happen again this year? That's what I'm most curious to see. Morgan State was pretty bad last year, and most don't expect them to be much better this year. I don't think it's possible for anyone to make a logical prediction for a score, since we have a new coach, new quarterback, and are playing a team we don't know much about. But if we come out play some solid defense and Reggie Bell plays efficiently, we should be fine and I'll be happy.

Not knowing anything about Morgan State, I expect Bronson Hill to run wild. He will have 200 yards rushing and EMU opens the season with a 38-7 victory.

I believe the score will be 45-10 and everyone plays in the game who are ones and two on the depth chart. I don't want to show Florida too much of our offense.

Hoping for a route but recent performances suggest a closer than should be game. Though with a new staff hopefully that's not the case once again.

I agree.

We've slept walked through FCS games under RE. (and even had problems before RE, too).

I got a feeling our team will be running on adrenalin. Our team will not be a step slow...

Just spoke with a team manager this morning. I could say more, but I'm sure he wasn't supposed to share anything with me. But don't expect a lot of pocket passing from Bell, he'll be throwing on the run most of the time. Bolden is cleared to play, but in practice he's played timidly, perhaps from still being so new to the system. A surprisingly well performing group could be the DL. The 3-4 seems to be beneficial for our players. Despite the experience, we may still have some problems with the O-line.

This game will show more about the coaches and players mindset before the start of the season. We must come away with a huge victory or we will be living like zombies for the remaining of the season and heading toward another poor season.

This 'confirms' what a couple of posters have posted:

300 yards (give or take) rushing and 100 passing.

Should be interesting what Bell can do against a 8-man front. If Morgan plays a straight 4-3 with 4 deep they aren't playing what they'll see.

I think our offense should NOT produce a lot of really long plays, but a lot of 5 - 15 yard stuff with say Bell getting outside contain and going for a dozen yards.

I'm not expecting to see a lot of 40 yard tosses (esp. if Bell is rolling out). If we get 40 yards, it might be on a screen.

I'm anxious to see the 3 - 4. Anytime there is a new defense maybe some players who weren't great fits in a 4-3 might shine, esp. a player who has NT abilities.

Compared to last year, I'd be glad to try any NEW defense. Can't be worse, only better.

BTW, I feel bad for Bolden. Three weeks isn't long to get up to speed with a new offense for a QB. Playbook can be daunting for a QB.

My source also expects all 3 QBs to at least see a few plays on the field, despite DeBoer's comments about not wanting to rotate quarterbacks. We'll see, though, he could be wrong about that.

And it appears that weather may be a big factor for players and the crowd.

The Morgan St. player who died had been offered by EMU under English:

My sympathies to his family friends and teammates.

A couple of quick thoughts:
1) Jaleel Canty isn't found on the two deeps? He played a lot as a freshman and was the highest rated recruit we had last year.
2) What happened to Mario Swann? He played as a freshman last year and I don't even see him on the roster.

I thought it was odd that Canty isn't in the two deeps as well. Why switch him over if he isn't going to play? I thought he held his own as a slot CB last year, especially for a true frosh.

I think Monday we look at the new 2-deeps and "compare and contrast" them and try to explain our observations. 03-idea

As for tomorrow I just want to see how this week's 2-deep players play.

Hey Bob nice to hear from you. Just in case you don't remember I believe there was a Howard game that was post phoned until the next day due to lightening. I'm fine with rain but thunderstorms can be and should be taken seriously for fan and player safety. I expect the game to be played tomorrow but you could see some delays. Hopefully that won't happen.

I haven't heard yet whether you're attending?
