What are the facts of the case?

He was in a car accident and was looking for help. He banged on the door of a house looking for help but must have fit the description.

He charged the three Char-Meck officers who responded to the call for a disturbance where he just about beat the door out of the frame at a home occupied by a woman home alone with an infant. The woman initially thought it was her husband coming home and opened the door but quickly shut the door when she saw it wasn't He began screaming and yelling and resumed beating on her door, causing the woman to call 911 and set off her home security system. When the Char-Meck officers arrived they found him down the street where he charged the officers, who attempted to deploy a taser which failed to activate. The officer in question pulled his weapon and fired 12 round, 10 of which struck the subject, killing him.


Oh BTW...a second Grand Jury charged him

The question is....considering the amount of influence that a prosecutor has over a Grand Jury (In the famous words of NY Judge Solomon Wachtler "If a D.A. wanted a Grand Jury would indict a ham sandwich") how bad was his case the first time around?

Hard to believe they couldn't even get a case for that.
Scary to be in Charlotte and rely on this police force.

You ever see that Movie Final Destination?

This was one of those cases where (from what I read) i thought the cops were totally in the wrong. But maybe there was something in the case the press didn't write about (not as though that would be a surprise).

I remember this story, and it seemed like a bona fide tragedy.

I think I remember this case and there was so much confusion going on. Isn't this the case of where the wife at first was scared and then later told the dispatcher that she thought maybe the man was looking for help, but the cops didn't get that part of the info?
