Ha seriously. They are going to take Florida State over Clemson if they have the shot at it.

I'll believe it when I see it on this. Georgia/FSU was supposed to happen in 2015 but Georgia has no marbles. South Carolina is another SEC team so I'll believe they play FSU when the contract is signed.

If I were putting on the game.....I would take Clemson over FSU every day and never look back.

Yeah a lot of you UNC fans think booting FSU for South Carolina would help the ACC too...

Fact is when talking marque names FSU is at another level above Clemson.

FSU was trying to get someone to come to Orlando in 2016, with Atlanta the backup. Doesn't look like they could convince anyone to agree to what would be a FSU home game, so Atlanta is what it'll appear to be.

Maybe FSU should get Penn State to play them in the Georgia Dome...

That was actually a very early rumor for Orlando way back when, but the Big Ten going to nine conference games and Penn State starting the Pitt series that year killed that.

Recall hearing both LSU and UGA were the original targets to pair with FSU. Neither were receptive. Supposedly SCar is. We'll see. Not the most exciting matchup but it's decent.

You also think the ACC needs to add South Carolina and that South Carolina wants to join...

The folks in Atlanta know that when Clemson is in the game tickets will sell. Do some research and see how many times the attendance record for the Peach Bowl was broken when Clemson was playing in the bowl, and see who was playing in the Chick-fil-a Kickoff the year the current attendance record for that game was set. The economic impact of Clemson coming to town is well known in Atlanta since that was where the $2 bill tradition was established.

The Peach Bowl is more well attended by Clemson fans? Could be because of lower expectations. That is an average bowl to many schools

To be fair starting this year the Peach Bowl will take on some additional prestige as a CFP Bowl.

Well we can't be talking about well attended for games that haven't happened yet...

Last year, if FSU and Clemson had played 9 more times, Clemson would have won 5 of them. Fact. At least that's what Dabo told me. So I'm definitely inclined to believe Clemson is, without a doubt, the more desirable program for bowls and season kickoff purposes.

I guess we just have better fans.

At least that's what Cam Erving thinks.

You are absolutely right Ragu. Florida State is to be congratulated on the remarkable rise of their athletic program since they joined the ACC. The 'noles in just a few short years have elevated their athletic program to the top of the second tier schools in the ACC. It may take another 20-25 years, but I'm sure they will eventually join Carolina, Duke and UVa in the top tier of ACC athletic departments.

Duke as an overall athletic program? Yeah if you are going by sports that the mainstream fan can give a crap about.

Hate to break it to you but the ACC would have been stripped and divided if FSU/Clemson left the same way it would have had North Carolina left a few seasons ago. Football is what drives these conferences. FSU is the one carrying the ACC in the sport that people actually care about most.

But congrats on the rowing, lacrosse, men's tennis, tee ball, and squash titles that the preppy schools are racking up!

Mark, no pipe, just truth.
Were you aware that Carolina has had more top 10 finishes in the Director's Cup than the rest of the ACC combined? And historically the trio of Carolina, Duke and UVa have won over 60% of all ACC championships played even after FSU was admitted into the league?
Now I am aware that some of those championships like lacrosse (because until this year only 4 teams ((Carolina, Duke, UVa and Maryland)) participated) has skewed those percentages to a degree. But the more sports played is an indicator of the overall strength and diversity of any athletic program.
And certainly no one would question that FSU has had one of the superior FOOTBALL programs in the ACC over the same period, but for overall athletic programs, although FSU is miles ahead of where they started when they joined the ACC, they still have a little ways to go to cement a spot in the upper echelon.

If the Director's Cup awarded points by # scholarship athletes on the team (e.g. 85 for winning football), THEN I might give credit to the winners. As it is, that award is meaningless IMO.
