not on the Steeler's practice squad either - at least not right now

Zach has been lighting it up statistically since he returned from injury. He went 30-43 for 345 yards against Montreal the other day but his team still lost. He doesn't have a lot of good weapons around him right now.

Mardy has been on the I/R after sustaining a leg injury midway through the first quarter in his first game with Montreal. He caught two passes for 16 yards.

I bet Andy has some UC gear in his closet...

Maybe someone needs to reach out to him to become a 1200 Club Member.

Lions RB George Winn could be destined for action Sunday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Just-promoted Lions running back George Winn could find himself carrying the ball a lot sooner than anticipated. He is likely to get a shot as early as Sunday against Buffalo.

Winn, who was one of the surprises of the preseason, might be needed with Joique Bell (concussion) and Theo Riddick (hamstring) potentially out.

"I think it's certainly a possibility," Jim Caldwell told MLive.com. "I think he's a guy that's up for the task as well. He worked extremely hard, obviously, during the preseason, was able to come in and do some good things. We think he's progressed since then."

Winn has been on the rosters of four different NFL teams since the beginning of last season but has yet to play a down.

RE: Tracking NFL Bearcats
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- George Winn was a late pre-training camp signing, appearing to merely be back-of-camp roster fodder.

Then he started to hit people. And run over people. And show he can play special teams, too. So Winn went from roster fodder to trying to snag a roster spot. The Southfield, Michigan, native didn’t do that initially, but the Lions liked the former Cincinnati Bearcat enough to keep him on the practice squad.

And when the Lions lost three running backs last Sunday, Winn received the call that he’d be joining the 53-man roster, part of a long journey from undrafted free agent to bona fide NFL player during the regular season, which will likely come this Sunday.

We talked about that -- and his penchant for sleeping on the floor in the locker room during media sessions -- in this week’s Ten(ish) Questions With...

You sleep a lot in here. Why?

George Winn: Originally in camp we were staying at the Henry, which is right down the street. So I would be able to wake up at a decent time and come down here with no problems. Once we moved out, I moved back into my house, which is out in West Bloomfield. And so in order to get here, to get everything I need to get done on time and everything, I have to be up around 5:30 in the morning to get down here. So to make sure I’m ready to go for practice, I take a little nap before we go out.

So you’re living at home? With your parents?

Winn: Yeah. Yeah.

What’s that like? Being an NFL player living at home?

Winn: I like it. I get to save on rent. So other than the drive down here and the traffic, it’s fine with me.

Anyone ever give you crap about it?

Winn: Oh, no. Secretly, everybody would want to do it. If not for the first two years, at least once just to save a little money.

What’s life like as an undrafted free agent who bounced around like this?

Winn: I guess at times it could be stressful. It’s hard working. It’s not as glamorous as you think it would be, saying you’re in the NFL. It’s hectic. You can get a call and go anywhere at any time.

Finish this sentence: The best moment of my life is...

Winn: I’m not sure. My best moments are making my parents proud. Making the people around me proud. I would say any time I make any accomplishments, make my mom cry or happy and smiling. When my dad is telling me he’s proud of me, those are the best moments of my life.

So what was Tuesday like (when he found out he was joining the 53-man roster)?

Winn: It was up there in those top moments. Absolutely.

How did you find out?

Winn: My agent (Greg Linton) called me and told me to come up here and sign because I was getting a new contract. It was pretty cool.

When we were talking in camp, you’ve been through six teams now, you said getting cut here would feel worse than the others. So signing here...

Winn: Probably better than anything else. The only thing I have to worry about now is my ticket situation. That’s a big problem.

That’s the only thing you have to worry about?

Winn: Everything else will take care of itself. I’ve been preparing. I’m not worried about the game. I’m prepared for that.

You see on Sunday three guys go down. Do you think, "Man, I could end up on the roster"?

Winn: Absolutely. I was down in Columbus for the (Ohio State-Cincinnati) game and it didn’t turn out too well. But I’m watching (the Lions) game and I’m like, "Man, I’m probably going to have to play. So let me get ready, lock in." I thought of that.

So when your agent calls and says come and sign, you’re like, "Cool"? More reaction? Tears? Fist pump?

Winn: It was excitement. I sent out a text to my mom and my dad. One of my best friends (Norman Shuford) drove here with me and he might have been more excited than I was on the way up here. Me and him rode up here and signed it and got it done. I actually went to the gym after that and worked out a little bit. Went to Franklin (Racquetball Club) up on Northwestern and worked out.

Why there?

Winn: They had a steam room I wanted to use and we didn’t have a steam room here and I wanted to use a steam room. So I went up there to use it.

Kenbrell Thompkins waived today. Had been inactive the past couple days. Don't really understand Belichick's approach to wide receivers. Only had 3 active last week and now releases a guy who scored 4 touchdowns last year? Hopefully another team will pick him up.

George Winn's first NFL carry goes for 14 yards. If you've got the Ticket or are in Northern Ohio, you may want to tune into the Lions-Bills game, as he'll be getting an extended look today with only he and Bush are active at RB today.

I know it is CFL but Zach Collaros went 27/43 for 367 yards the other night against the best defense in the CFL. Since Zach came back from a concussion the Tiger-Cats have won four straight games. Zach is putting up some nice numbers on the season.

Good for him. Better than him rotting on the inactive list in Boston.
