Memphis Game Day Concert Series
Pretty cool idea I think.

The Memphis Tigers are once again investing in the "game day experience" as athletic department officials released details of the Tailgate Concert Series, presented by Horseshoe Casino Tunica, on Tuesday.

The University Athletic Department, in partnership with Horseshoe Casino Tunica, will present free live music near Tiger Lane prior to each of the Tigers' first four home games of the 2014 season. Musical artists include local and national touring acts.

Headlining the concert performances will be Pat Green (Sept. 20), Thompson Square (Oct. 11) and Bret Michaels (Oct. 31). Local favorites Kevin and Bethany Paige will kick-off the festivities as they perform prior to the season opener on Aug. 30.

Great idea and layer at a time they need to add more events like this. Make game day an event that is more than just the game. I hope the Highland Hundred is still doing the Grill Zone. As an out of town Tiger fan that makes tailgating a snap.

No Justin Timberlake or Juicy J? I mean, I understand these were probably low-budget acts, but washed up arena rockers from 30 years ago aren't gonna do anything for today's students.

That's awesome! Being close to Nashville definitely helps in lining up artists!

JT would bring an overload crowd. Juicy J would bring the wrong crowd. It's really not the students they're trying to appeal to. It's the community

Yep because we are sure that Memphis has absolutely no reason they would want to appeal to black youth.

I'm not sure what bothers me more, that Bret Michaels is apparently dead or that we somehow managed to book his ghost.

In death, a member of Project Mayhem has a name. His name was Bret Michaels.

ECU has something ALMOST similar...

Freeboot Fridays. In downtown Greenville, the Uptown Greenville Association ( I believe that is the correct name off the top of my head) have a free concert on Fridays before home game Saturdays. It roughly lasts from 5-8 with the opening act/acts taking the 5-6 hour and the headliner taking the 6-8 shift.
