I'm not dissatisfied with what we have for now, but we should put a stadium on the campus master plan. If nothing else, doing that will keep local government honest in rent negotiations, etc.

No reason at all not to put it on the master plan.

I'm looking forward to visiting Tulane's new stadium when we go there this year.

Let's see if football revenues increase for either of those schools over the next few years...and neither have the loyal base of support as the U of M.

I agree with the master plan, but the City of Memphis has been more than fair with our stadium rent. Not to mention the $15 Million in taxpayer funds spent on the construction of Tiger Lane.

Temple pays the Eagles rent in the amount of $1 Million per season and the Eagles want to increase that to $2 million per season.

With the current budget woes that the city is experiencing, don't be surprised if our stadium rent increases dramatically in the near future.

How about a road trip to NOLA to check out their new digs?

It's not like they won't be selling beer at the game.

Are you referring to the Avron B. Fogelman Arena?

We were just smart enough to not spend $100 million before the P5 excluded us & the rest of the G5. Those stadiums will probably prove to be a waste of money for those universities. Louisville, TCU & Utah have been the only true additions to the P5 over the last 20 years. They were smart enough a decade ago. Being smart enough 10 years late is still 10 years late.

I snuck outside to pee in the bushes at a game once and the Tulane fans asked me how I knew about the overflow peeing spot. I said I just had to pee. True story.

I was thinking the same thing. A few more schools may get into the club but the future for everyone else is tenuous. I doubt any of these projects would have gotten off the ground given todays reality.

Tulane is going to be a P5 school. The rest of us are fighting for a spot.

The thing holding Memphis back is the lack of alumni involvement on campus. A basketball arena might be more feasible than football at this point although theres no real reason to leave an NBA arena from the recruiting standpoint

Memphis has more people willing to pay more per ticket than Tulane and could ultimately make far more per game, if the supply of tickets were to shrink. What we need for long term viability are more people who will pay $20-$25 per game and fewer people who show up only at $5 per game; and that can only happen with an on-campus stadium that seats 40-45k.

I would imagine that Tulane expects their sports programs to lose a lot of money , and aren't doing this to get into a P5 conference . They have a lot of money, they are probably just looking to add overall value to the university and the university experience.
