Another pet peeve
Why do some people seem to think their hands will get wetter if they turn the water faucet on harder?

perhaps slamming a faucet into the on position is from someone who just, ummm, engaged... in said lifestyle...

It may make the "wetness" occur more quickly over more surface area of skin. Also, the velocity of water can dislodge debris on said skin more than a gentle pour.

It uses less water and works more efficiently by rubbing your hands together.

A lot of guys in rock/hair bands had the same hair as well, and they continued with the hair a good bit into the 80s.
