ECU FOOTBALL HISTORY??
Since all these ECU fans love to brag about their football program, I quickly did a search of all their records all-time.

You guys have only won 10 games TWICE in the entire history of your program???

You have averaged LESS THAN SEVEN wins a season over the last decade??? Playing in Conference USA??

You haven't beaten a P5 school in a bowl game since 2000????

You haven't finished a season ranked since 1995???

How in the world can you guys act like you have even an average program??? Simply pathetic...07-coffee3

RE: ECU FOOTBALL HISTORY??
We have played more Power conference schools than anyone the last 20-30 years. I saw a breakdown on the a Utah blog about 7 or 8 years ago and from the early 90's until then and it was almost a 3rd more than the next closest team. Of course we also beat more as well the years they had drawn from and it really wasn't even close...Next question.

No, but that was at the time as much of a power conference as you could have possibly been even paying players no less. I think people get the distinction of what SMU or Houston were in the 80's.

That said even in the 80's when the SWC was alive ECU would play brutal schedules and 6 or 7 Power schools in 11 games as well as USM yearly and we played 5-6 Power schools through the 90's even when we finally got into CUSA and even in recent years we usually play 3 or 4 with the 4 open spots we have and usually have one of the toughest OOCs in all of football.

Here are a few examples of ECU schedules along that SWC time.....

http://www.jhowell.net/cf/scores/EastCarolina.htm#1986

1988
Miami
Florida State
Syracuse
West Virginia
South Carolina
Virgina Tech

1987
Miami
Florida State
West Virginia
Illinois
South Carolina
Virginia Tech
NC State

1986
Miami
Penn State
Auburn
West Virginia
South Carolina
NC State

1985
LSU
Miami
Auburn
Penn State
South Carolina
NC State

People think we are just some small time school and look our records on the surface and don't actually look who we were playing pretty much from the start of D1aa until today we have continually challenged our selfs more than every non BCS schools, and many years as an indy we could and did put together brutal schedules. Penn State, Miami, Florida State etc were some of the kings of the mountain in the 80's.

That doesn't explain why you haven't finished ranked since 1995....or why you haven't even averaged 7 wins a season over the last decade...or why you've only won 10 games twice in history...You've had such easy schedules since joining C-USA...07-coffee3

Completely wrong, and most schools wouldn't be ranked playing some of the schedules we have because they wouldn't win enough of them.

We have routinely had some of the toughest OOC schedules in the nation in all of college football since we have been in CUSA. Another thing not mentioned is we have hardly ever played those easy D1aa's you load up on.

The 15 years from 1999-2013 for example we have only played 3 D1aa's and two of those games to a program that was better than many D1a's in App State.

-OOC since 1999 we have only played 5 games OOC that weren't vs BCS. That was 4 games vs national team Navy who has been very good and 1 vs ODU.

If you want perspective....Cincy played 12 D1aa's in those same 15 years.

That's 4 times the easy padding alone as we have played in the same period. 07-coffee3. You also play Miami (Oh) years and a a lot of other MAC crap where we have been playing P5 schools.

Here... from 1999-2013 what each team played.

D1aa's
ECU 3
Cincy 12

BCS OOC's and bowls
ECU 54
Cincy 27

Sure you were in the Big East about 10 years of that, and there were a couple P5 quality teams there but don't pretend as we've had these easy schedules or fluff D1aa wins. We play a really challenging schedules that we put together, more so than most any team OOC, and it's even been lighter the last 15 years than it was the years before the divisions split.

Cali_Pu$$y,

The following fine football programs would disagree with your assessment of our (ECU) football history and pedigree:

North Carolina
North Carolina State
Virginia Tech
West Virginia
Stanford
Texas Tech
South Carolina
Miami
Cincinnati
UCF
Louisville
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Boise State

Yours Truly,
Pirate Nation
