I would rather have the money that would be generated by another home game. We probably had to buy out Stony Brook and lost home game revenue too. And we don't start until September 12. Put that all together and it doesn't add up to a good decision. Maybe Whit should have had his deal with the conference BEFORE he made the changes. That is what an experience AD might have done. Instead, he made a rookie mistake.
We got a home and home with a big name P5 school that agreed to play in Nippert. The Stony Brook buyout probably wasn't a whole lot. Doubt we lost much, if any, revenue since there is a good chance playing an FCS school at PBS would have actually cost us money once you figure in the smaller attendance and the guarantee money we would have paid them. Plus, ultimately you also have to consider the revenue that will be generated by the Miami game at Nippert next year. All in all, it was the right decision. Wish we could have worked something to fix the schedule, but the Miami home and home is more valuable than the late start this year and the loss of an FCS game at PBS.

Great points. Much different scenario to buy out a game at a stadium you would be renting, than one you already own.
