Islamic State militants are celebrating the capture of a government airbase in northeast Syria, reportedly displaying the severed heads of conquered soldiers as trophies in their stronghold of Raqqa city.
The nearby Tabqa airbase had been President Bashar al-Assad’s last foothold in the Raqqa region, otherwise controlled by IS which has seized large swathes of Syria and Iraq.
The battle for the base is said to have claimed hundreds of lives on both sides.
When it comes to the military might of the group formerly known as ISIS, Syria’s forces believe Washington has questions to answer.
“The expansion of ISIS is not accidental,” said Fawaz Mustafa, head of the Political and Military Academy of the Syrian army.
“More than one country offered a large amount of weapons and funding to it during the civil war. If we look back at the remarks made by senior US officials in Congress recently, we will see that they always knew who is supporting the extremist group in Syria.”

Obama needs to get off his golfing rear and organize the regional powers there with the promise of US air support... Iran, Syria, Jordan, and Turkey can attack Isis on all fronts and we have the air power to support each front.

Yep those flight schools seem to have done what the Muslim extremists wanted. Now show them how stupid They are in Air to Air combat before They launch Suicide missions with those planes.

none of those countries will trust us for a while. we have shown the world that we dump on our friends (britain, israel, egypt (twice)) and rusty trombone our enemies (iran, the movie critic that killed chris stevens, assad).
The air base is about to be blown sky high. Also, flying a Mach capable jet fight is not as easy as it looks. The Iraqi Air force fought the USAF in the first gulf war and got routed. Now the Iraqi AF in the the Gulf War was pretty highly trained for Arab AF's and had many vets if the Iran/Iraq war and several aces. Didn't matter they were wiped out in 2 days, the Iraq War they fled to Iran and refused to engage the USAF.
The USAF has had mock dog fights with top Russian and European fighter pilots, most of the time the US forces out numbered, we've yet to lose. The best AF's can't beat our average pilots, these fools don't stand a chance. That's if they could even fly them or use the weapon systems, which are written in Russian.
