This. ****ing. Offseason.
Quote:Largely due to a failure to keep records of phone calls and the rogue actions of a former football assistant coach, Georgia Tech has been censured by the NCAA for an failure to monitor. The school also self-imposed two years of additional probation following the four-year probation it received after the NCAA’s investigation into the improper benefits received by a former football player, Demaryius Thomas.
The information was obtained through an open records request by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The NCAA is expected to release a statement of its findings in coming days. The AJC first reported on the matter following the resignation of Tech assistant coach Todd Spencer in January 2012.

When can the NCAA just be taken out back and shot already?
Bounties? Botched investigation, full retreat after self imposed wrist slap.
Bogus classes? We'll let you know on that in 5 years, but probably another wrist slap.
Bag men? What bag men?
WHAT IS THIS?! A PEON ASSISTANT AT GEORGIA TECH DIDN'T KEEP PHONE RECORDS? PROBATION! For two more years. Added on to the probation GT got because Dan Radakovich (yes, the now Clemson AD) told the SA being investigated to "tell the truth" and that was considered tampering with an investigation by the NCAA. Over a f***ing tshirt and Georgia Aquarium tickets given to a player by somebody not associated with GT. I mean, isn't it pretty *** **** obvious by our recruiting we're not cheating? I mean, if we are seriously cheating ... and this is the result ... then *EVERYBODY* up to the AD should be fired immediately. If you're going to cheat at least do the Auburn and get a National Championship from it. FFS. The NCAA makes Congress look reasoned, rational, intelligent, and expedient. **** those guys.
For bonus points ... here's a recruit getting arrested on charges one typically sees half the UGAg team hauled in for each offseason:

I HEAR YA. They have been snooping around Central NY ever since the Bernie Fine situation back in 2011 and making something out of nothing. So we Cuse fans feel your pain.

By the way Kaplony .... enjoy your new AD.
@DanWolken
Dan Wolken covers college football for @USATODAY. Also part of the Sochi 2014 coverage team.
The Dan Radakovich regime at Georgia Tech was more or less a fiasco on every conceivable level.

Tech completely bungled the Demaryius Thomas situation, then didn’t properly do something simple like logging calls? Just dumb.
2:52 PM - 22 Aug 2014
Radakovich deserves huge credit for the Alexander Coliseum redo, but otherwise he left that department in very mediocre shape.
2:55 PM - 22 Aug 2014
Most ADs get fired when their programs get in trouble with the NCAA twice. Others get better job and seat on playoff committee.

Between this and the attrition, my preseason predictions for GT has dropped to 6-6, despite the easier schedule than last year.

But the GT SBNation site had an article the other week saying, "Attrition? It's really not bad at all."

Our scheduling was horrible under Drad.... I hope the new regime changes that, but it appears if they are they are going to do it slowly...

Think it's more an issue of stupid GT writer being stupid than SBNation. It's not like we're talking about Bleacher Report.
