Must you choose between them? Why not both?

Seriously - don't get anyone who thinks we don't have a top 10 tailgate. I have been to dozens and we have the best set up i have seen with possible exception of the Ol Miss Grove.

the boulevard at smu is very nice on gamedays but smu loses points because not even half leave the party for the game.

Loses points? This is the exact reason they get bonus points. I was lucky enough to attend the SMU v Temple game last season with a local and I can honestly say the party started Friday night in Park Cities and ran well past the games completion.

We were some of the few that actually went in and watched the game but when it was over the party was still going strong.

Then that's not a tailgate it's just a big party

EXACTLY! IMO, anyone who "tailgates" but has no intention of going to the game needs to GTFO. I don't care how good the tailgate is, HELL YES SMU loses points if half of them don't go into the game (which they obviously don't). If I sound vexed by this, it's only because I see it at UCF, too. It's one of my biggest pet peeves.

We throw a hell of a tailgate party, and all are welcome. The only rule is, if you come and drink our beer and eat our food, you must be attending the game. Otherwise, go away! I've had friends and co-workers ask for my additional parking passes so they can come enjoy our tailgate, but they don't get them if they don't join us in the stands.

+1

And ECU delivers an AWESOME game day experience start to finish. I hope we can build something similar for game day traditions back on campus at Tulane.

This brings up a question I have for everyone, an informal survey if you will.

Which of these two fans are more valuable to a program?

Fan 1 buys 4 full season premium ticket packages for the most expensive seats available and pays an additional seat licenses to be part of the booster club. Because his (or her) team plays in an urban area they must pay for a full season premium parking pass or tailgate permit. Of the 6 home football games they attend 2 games, giving the other tickets away for free to friends or relatives. Or, say they do go to all 6 home games but only actually make it inside the stadium for 2 of those games choosing instead to continue to party in the parking lot with their group of friends and listen to the game on radio. Fan 1 also makes 1 road trip to an away game per season buying the game day tickets through the university. Fan 1 is also a season ticket holder for basketball and attends about 1/3 of the home games with the same type premium tickets with parking passes and gives the ones he doesn’t use away for free or some may go unused.

Or

Fan 2 who goes to all 6 home games but waits until the week of the game and buys his tickets on Stub Hub for 50% of face value, parks his car a half mile from the stadium for free, or at a private business fairly close to the stadium for half of what the stadium lots are charging. He walks through all the tailgate parties prior to the game, seeing some familiar faces and stops by to talk and has a burger and a beer. He’s dressed for the games in a team sweatshirt and cap he bough from the local Sports Authority store and inside the games he buys a soda or maybe two. Fan 2 watches all the away games on TV. Fan 2 goes to every home basketball game that he can get discounted tickets for on Stub Hub.

I’m just curious at people’s responses.

I've been to both. I can understand why someone might think that. ECU's is more spread out. We have several different areas with different taste. Tailgate on down ELM or the SPC lot if you want shtfaced college students. Tailgate the stadium or up by the school for a more mixed but usually older crowd. Our tailgate is significantly bigger and with more people but UCFs is condensed which is nice.

Greenville as a town definitely supports the game day atmosphere better than anywhere I have been. The town gets flooded with people walking & drinking everywhere.

Temple unfortunately for me has the worst tailgate outside of a PSU or Nova game. Eagles games are great so long as you're an Eagles fan or with eagle fan friends

On an average game you'd probably be right, but if we have a marquee opponent I'd imagine UCF has a significantly larger tailgate given the fact it's a larger school with significantly more students and is ~6 miles from a major metropolitan area. Just simple demographics really.

Quote:BIGGEST SHOES TO FILL
1. QB Justin Holman, UCF
2. QB Neal Burcham, SMU
3. DE Demetrius Hill, USF
4. RB Breon Allen, ECU
5. WR Justyn Shackleford, Tulane

Pete DiNovo was named the starter, its been in the papers for at least a week or 2 now. What a lazy author to just assume Holman was the starter.

Too much reading comprehension and basic math.
