RE: 2014 Wins vs. the Power 5
Here we go! The BCS is dead, so we're using the Power 5 conference designation. Any win over a team from the ACC (including quasi-member Notre Dame), Big Ten, Big XII, Pac 12, or SEC counts.

There's been a lot of moving around, and I don't promise to be perfect, so keep me in line if I put somebody in the wrong conference or miss a game! :)

Here's the week 1 lineup:

ACC
La-Monroe - Wake Forest
Villanova - Syracuse
Georgia Southern - NC State
Delaware - Pitt
Wofford - Georgia Tech
UMass - Boston College
William & Mary - Virginia Tech
Liberty - #23 UNC-Chapel Hill
Elon - Duke
Rice - Notre Dame

Big XII
NDSU - Iowa State
La Tech - #4 Oklahoma
Samford - TCU
Central Arkansas - Texas Tech
Stephen F. Austin - #20 Kansas State
North Texas - Texas-Austin
SMU - #10 Baylor
Eastern Illinois - Minnesota
Jacksonville State - #8 Michigan State

Big Ten
UCF - Penn State
Navy - #5 Ohio State
WMU - Purdue
Indiana State - Indiana
NIU - Iowa
App State - Michigan
Youngstown State - Illinois
JMU - Maryland
FAU - #22 Nebraska

Pac 12
Idaho State - Utah
Weber State - #19 Arizona State
Colorado State - Colorado
UNLV - Arizona
Portland State - Oregon State
UC Davis - #11 Stanford
Fresno State - #15 USC
Hawaii - #25 Washington
South Dakota - #3 Oregon

SEC
Boise State - #18 Mississippi
Temple - Vanderbilt
Southern Miss - Mississippi State
UT-Martin - Kentucky
SDSU - #24 Mizzou
Idaho - Florida
Utah State - Tennessee

Ha, they got in a "We aren't part of the G5" hissy fit over on the AAC board when someone tried to start one of these there. Honestly I root for the P5 team when they are playing the AAC at this point...

Can we stop with G5 and P5 crap? Sounds like the ESPN brainwashing is working.

The divide is obvious with or without labels.

Perhaps he would prefer to have them referred to as the "Proletariat" and the "Bourgeois?"

The gap is large with the bluebloods but the gap is pretty small with the rest of the so-called "P5". If it were so large, this thread wouldn't be here.

The gap is large between 90% of P5 and 90% of G5 in everything but on field talent.

The majority of even the bottom tier of P5 have budgets, facilities and fan support that the majority of G5 can only dream of.

RE: 2014 Wins vs. the Power 5
The AAC, Mountain West, and Sun Belt all took down a P5 team in Week 1. Interestingly, it was the only FBS win for each of the conferences who went 1-4, 1-6, and 1-3 respectively. The MAC doesn't have any FBS non-conference wins in four chances.

Compare to C-USA where there were no P5 wins, but the conference went 5-5 against FBS teams. Scalps are great, but I like having the best FBS winning percentage in the G5.

Fortunately, FBS schools lost only 2 out of 46 games played against FCS schools. At least I believe those numbers are correct.
