Both would be solid FBS teams, plus they would've held together the WAC which would've helped both have an easier transition than say joining MWC or CUSA.

Oh and both would be better adds in the future than UMass 05-stirthepot

I kinda wish they and Boise would alternate colors instead of a solid color. Would help in my opinion.

They probably smartly realized that they can be more relevant and have more success as top 1AA schools, rather than go broke trying to field an FBS program that will compete in the Sun Belt or CUSA.

IMO this would have been the prudent thing for a lot of programs to do. FIU is a prime example of a program that should have never jumped to D1 FBS.

I think App State is going to regret moving up soon too after being a national champion in1AA

Ummm. ..... because nobody invited them? That's kind of like asking why hasn't ecu joined the acc.

I rather watch these two schools (and App and FIU) rather than Idaho, New Mexico State, etc

Not necessarily the same; the WAC probably would have taken them if they were interested. I doubt they wanted to stop sponsoring football.

Invite themselves. Say you are interested in moving up and get the process started. If they had done that I guarantee the WAC could've instantly sent out an invite. The MWC would've tried to get EWash, and SBC and CUSA might've gone after SHSU.

Alternate between red and black and it would be much better.

SHSU - no market, small facilities with little money to upgrade, down the road from the most active death row in the country. Pass

So Sam Houston is also the Bearcats, eh? I never knew that. Assumed Cincy were the only ones.

I don't understand why many of you all like to discuss lower level schools in this board repeatedly is beyond me.

There's also the SUNY-Binghampton (Binghampton for short) Bearcats.

No market? They're closer to the City of Houston than Texas A&M and only a hop, skip and jump away from the northern most suburbs (it can be argued that Huntsville is a suburb). They make the local news here when relevant.

Oh, I'm sorry, should I not like watching this game simply because they're 1-AA teams? It's still football and they're still the best teams in the division.

I enjoy 1-AA playoffs far more than 60% of bowl games.

You can do as you wish... Bringing it to the AAC board for discussion, probably not a good idea. 07-coffee3

I know nothing about E Washington, but SHSU only has an an attendance average of around 8K. I don't think you can financially swing FBS with a fanbase that size. They have a lot of work to do if they want to move up. They simply are not ready.

SUNY- Binghampton also goes by the Bearcats. I wonder where they got it from because our use of the name Bearcats is unique to us...we had a great player with the last name Baehr and to taunt the Kentucky fans during a football game, we started calling ourselves the Baehr-Cats...07-coffee3
