The good the bad the ugly
The Good

Not many penalties

Enough offense to win

The real deal in Franklin

Currie and Celeskar walked off the field

We have more than one receiver

Braverman adds a new look on jet sweeps

The Oline. Good run blocking and pass blocking

The Bad

Special teams

3rd down defense

Clock management

Too many big plays

The Ugly

Two minute offense. Not what we'd become used to under Cubit

Pressure on the QB. Never saw any pressure on 3rd downs

Kick coverage. Gave up field position, when a squib kick on kick offs in the wind, or a rugby punt, would have stopped the bleeding.

I was pleasantly surprised that when WMU made a big play... there wasn't a hanky on the turf like last year...

I think Big Twink official are very fair unless the game is in doubt for their guys, then the phantom calls come out.

Four Delay of Game penalties is inexcusable.

On 2 of those, it was 4th and less than 5, so I wasn't too upset. If Purdue jumps when the play clock is at 1, we are in business.

Nobody jumps offside in a punting situation when watching ball for snap. Especially the second (or third) time you do it.

RE: The good the bad the ugly
Last year, I was in total agreement with Petit as far as our OC. Didn't like his play calling ONE BIT. HATED, HATED the wildcat.

THE GOOD - BUT, I was very happy with the OC yesterday (besides the fact that when we needed to score at the end, no receivers were running routes towards the END ZONE.)

No wildcat. And I loved all the wrinkles that were available to us with Braverman in motion, and Franklin in the backfield. I didn't see the dagger play which would have been the fake to franklin and the option with ZT and Braverman, with ZT faking the pitch against one defender. The way Braverman had been playing, that fake would have been KILLER.

THE BAD - ZT throwing that pass back across the field for the INT was devastating. We were all waiting the rest of the day for an equalizing turnover on D but it never happened. And Purdue was giving us a chance by continuing to attempt passes.

When Celiscar went down, I believe our team needed about 10 more minutes before that ball was snapped. But alas, Purdue ran a sweep DIRECTLY to where DC would have been standing and took it to the house.

THE PROUD - Celiscar had made some great tackles earlier in the game against the run, limiting gains to 3 yards or so. THE YOUNG MAN WILL BE NFL CALIBER. Praying for his health.

The Ugly - My sunburn. Yow.

I love the rugby style punt too. That delay and the low trajectory give the added bonus of possibly hitting an opposing player in the backside with us recovering. Schroeder had a great game yesterday!
