We have depth but depth doesn't replace Parker's skill. Really bad news that he's going to Charlotte, what a disappointment before the season starts.

Local news saying he is out indefinitely. Good news to come out of this is we have a great depth at that position. However, Parker is a special talent and NFL ready now. Can't replace someone like that. Hopefully it isnt as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Hoping he will at least be back for the last half of the season. Sucks for him though he is a great guy and all class.

His family posted on Facebook last night that it was just a left foot sprain and that he would be "fine". That doesn't give us a timeline on a return but it's good to hear that it may not be too serious.

A "Sprain" doesn't require a trip to Charlotte to see one of the Top orthopedic surgeons in the country.
Worst case just hope he is ready for the NFL Draft this April but best case hope that he is back and healthy very soon.

I've heard he has a dislocated toe that requires a screw. Likely out for 6 weeks.

A "sprain", by definition, is any ligamentous injury. Just fyi since you seem to think sprains don't require specialist consultation.

I know what a "Sprain" is....but I guess someone just "assumed/read into a post" way too much....you be ok....

Really feel for the kid, he's projected as the one of the top two receivers in the next draft, so hopefully it's nothing too serious and he makes a full recovery.
I think we'll be fine while he's recovering due to our depth at WR.
On a lighter note.... the last time Petrino lost his best player to injury, we came three points shy of going to the National Championship!

Exactly....as talented as Parker is UofL still has a very talented and deep WR Corp..but is it still a very tough loss since Parker, Amari Cooper and Sammie Coats are arguably the 3 best NFL WR Prospects this coming year in college.

Wasn't buying the "Sprain"....FWIW he is having surgery-(Broken Bone) best case is IMO the FSU Game. Myself would rather for him to completely heal before coming back.

Per Petrino's presser today, Parker will be out 6-8 weeks with a broken pinky toe. He went to see the specialist in North Carolina because he's the same doctor that will be at the NFL combine this year.

Hope they are cautious about it...no need to rush it...

Just a point of clarification. He broke his fifth metatarsal (forefoot), not any of his phalanges (toes).
When you have a broken toe, the doctor will "buddy-tape" the broken toe to an adjacent toe, with a gauze pad between the toes to absorb moisture. You also may need to wear a rigid flat-bottom orthopedic shoe for two to three weeks. When you have a broken bone in your forefoot, you'll probably be in a short-leg walking cast or brace. You're also looking at a longer recovery (6-8 weeks).

So best case is probably the Cuse game?

Yep. I don't really expect him to play until Clemson or FSU though.
