This forum has the ability to be set to automatically disallow or change preselected words. Moderators, please set it to change "Power 5" to "Autonomy 5" or something similar which is less offensive to AAC fans and less destructive to our conference? It is bad enough that the media and the public are repeating the damaging phrase daily - surely we should not tolerate it here.

The term power 5 is a joke. We all know that, last season proved it. In that regard, GA is absolutely correct.

I am against having word police.

I think GA's point is being lost in translation.

The "P5" term is bad enough, but it directly leads to people using the term "G5 / Group of 5" which none of us should want.

There are "contract conferences" and "noncontract conferences".

We are a "noncontract conference".

Many of us have praised Aresco on the job he is doing to promote the conference and how he has refused to accept the "P5 / G5" monikers or he at least considers this conference a "power" conference as well . As fans we should do the same.

Personally, I hate the fact that each of our schools have invested millions into athletic infrastructure, student aid, beaten contract conference teams H2H, won championships, etc. in order to keep up as best we can with the contract conferences and at the end of the day we're still called "mid-majors" or "group of five". It's insulting.

I think GA is simply trying to convince us to stop using / promoting the terms by using them in this forum. We don't need mods / auto word change to do that though. We just need our fans to get out of the habit.

Just my two cents.

We're all adults. We have enough sense to understand what the situation is without being policed in what to say or not say.

This is an AAC fan board. It's not like millions of casual fans are coming here and will be influenced by us using any of those terms.
