2-deep chart
We're a week out, and our front page of threads is sorely lacking football discussion.

I'd like to see what our 2-deep chart looks like right now. I read a lot of Stuk's articles in the paper, but they mostly center on the guys who are locked in. I'd be curious to know is Brayden Scott made ground on Stewart as the backup QB, how injuries have affected us so far, or what yougn guys have made a name for themselves this spring and might crack the 2-deep.

Below is the preseason depth-chart in the media guide...what's changed so far in fall practice?

QB: Lynch (Jason Stewart)....is Stewart ahead of Brayden Scott still?
RB: Hayes (Dorceus)
WR: Malone (Craig)
WR: Craft (Frazier)
WR: Jones (Anthony Miller)....guess the wOrLd is not Hurd's?
TE: Cross (Robby Young)
LT: Fallin (Winfield)
LG: Uselton (Kuhn)
C: Simmons (Stannard)
RG: Thomas (Collins)
RT: Bond (Mays)

DE: Hunter (Suttles)
NT: Redden (Pennington)
DE: Ifedi (Brady)
DAWG: Dillon (Golden)
WILL: Jakes (McManis)
MIKE: Harris (Pegues)...will Genard Avery crack the LB rotation?
SAM: Coleman (Howard)
CB: McCain (Howard)
CB: Gaines (Hollier)
FS: Ball (Sumpter)
SS: Etienne (Witty)

Lots of potential there for 6-6 and a bowl. Solid skill players and playmakers on the front line and secondary on D.

RE: 2-deep chart
Defense looks solid, that gives me hope. Just need Lynch & the receivers to be consistent & for the team to keep injuries down. JF says this is his best conditioned team since he's been here, that should help keep injuries down & the team effort up throughout the year. Given the team progression against this schedule, I'll be disappointed with less than 6 wins.

RE: 2-deep chart
Our Defense should be as good or better than last year.
- More depth, quality
- Additional year under Odom
- Senior laden
* Key is play of SS, FS

Special Teams will be a step down. There is no way to replace a Ray Guy award winner.
- Kicking game improvement, as Elliot is year older
- Additional year under Shibesy
* Key is play of rookie punter

Offense should also see a big step forward
- Solid starting 11, deep at skill players
- SO QB, returning starter
- Senior at core position: RB, WR, LT
* Key is play of OL, entire 2 deep are young (OL 3 FR, 2 SO; TE 1 FR)

RE: 2-deep chart
^Good question. According to gotigersgo stats, he started 11 of 12 games last year.

Hopefully dorceus will hold on to the ball better.
More gotigersgo stats:
Brandon Hayes 2013- 201 carries, 860 yards, 4.3 yd avg, 5 td, 2 fumbles 0 lost.
Dorceus 2013-30 carries, 173 yards, 5.8 yd avg, 0 td, 4 fumbles 2 lost.

I can assure you that Daniel Hurd, who on Saturday had another big day and had a 56 yard td strike will be getting plenty of reps and playing time....As will Roderick Procter and Greg McKillion....And Paxton Willbreakout as I said he would and be the Star I told you he was going to starting this year and same goes with Donald Pennington, Daniel Hurd, Robert Davis will get some time here and there and show you what he can do, but we got Depth and people will get to play.....The World Is Ours Memphis....

RE: 2-deep chart
Just saw a John Martin with a picture of what looks like the depth chart in the program for Saturday's game. A few interesting notes....

3 QB's listed in the 2-deep...Lynch/Stewart/Holgersen....no Brayden Scott. Is one of Stewart/Holgersen a passer, and the other an athlete? Curious as to why there are 3. TE is the only other position with 3 listed.

Hurd (r-SO) moved ahead of Anthony Miller (r-FR) as Tevin Jones (#87) backup.

The O-Line is all rearranged from the original depth chart. ..

Gabe Kuhn (r-FR) moved ahead of Simmons (JR) at C.
Michael Stannard (r-SO) is listed at starting RG (was backup C) replacing Sam Thomas (r-SO) who is no longer on 2-deep chart (was starting RG).
Nykiren Wellington (SR), mentioned earlier in this thread, moved back into 2-deep chart as backup RT behind Al Bond.

On defense....

Ernest Suttles (r-FR) moved ahead of Ricky Hunter (r-JR) at DE.
Cortez Crosby (r-FR) moved ahead of Donald Pennington at backup DT.
Charles Morley (r-SO) moved ahead of Dion Witty (JR) as backup SS.
Anthony Young (r-FR) moved ahead of Phillip Sumpter (r-FR) as backup FS.

None of this would be considered a major shakeup, but its interesting to see all these FR/SO moving up (and down) in the depth chart.

Told you Hurd is coming on strong and want be long before he slides in front of Jones....Also Crosby, Pennington are both gonna be huge and play a lot this season as will Others.....A lot of guys will see action this year, and they are coming to bring it.....Come 4 quarter we intend to wear down the other teams, by be more fresh and stronger in the 4 th quarter and taking to to opponents this season....Uptempo offense, fast paced, quick strikes, and a relentless attacking defense coming after you none stop and bringing it for 4 quarters......We are Ready to Go.....The World Is Ours Memphis.... And Suttles, and Outing are gonna be Game Changers as will Caleb Grant before their time in our program is done......The World Is Ours Memphis....

Great to see the offense only has five of 18 players who are seniors on the two-deep.

On the flip side, it appears eight starters on defense are seniors, with three more seniors on the second line.

I might be off some on Basketball, Although I told you Kuran Iverson will breakout this season for Josh and Staff, But I know my Football, Go to plenty 70n7's with the Nike Camps, and Know we got some talent on this team....And working on improving it even more.....With using the walk-ons, Recruiting deep talent states, And working on our scout teams with them walk-ons, or guys who got over looked and develop them into their potential, and when someones better, they move up the chart list....As we begin winning recruiting will continue to pick up and so will our walk-on program.....General Fuente and our staff has had a plan and putting it to use and to work and building the foundation brick by brick.....Oh are we more than ready.....The World Is Ours Memphis....
