I like it.

It would be fun to try for a spring game with chalk, if that is possible. Unveil it on April 1st, play the spring game on it, and then hope like hell that it washes out by the fall.

That would surely get some people riled up.

I agree. I cannot watch EWU play on that turf, it's painful to the optic nerve!

How do they get all these home games? I understand them getting on air as they are deserving and someone is evidently doing their job, but to always be at home and on TV as much as they are. I doubt their fans have ever seen BFS on TV. Let's see, how that could be happening???

The athletic department has to actually do something. I wouldn't hold your breathe... unless you want to start a listening tour about it then you may get full approval.

Ewu is on tv because they've been winning the last 4 years. If you want JMU on espn, we can start by actually getting in the playoffs.

We don't need to bring this back around to the Mickster. That's been beat to death. As stated before, Eastern WA is deserving. But someone is doing a heck of a job selling their home events to the networks and clearly they are not afraid to be different in many ways.

They are usually on TV in the playoffs. So of course we'd have to first make the playoffs and then actually bid high enough or be seeded to have a home game. This game was between two teams that have been doing well in (not just making it to) the playoffs recently. So it would probably greatly increase our chances of getting on TV if we scheduled someone like North Dakota St as an OOC instead of STFU.

So I think it is a mix of the team performing well and the admin. scheduling attractive OOC games. There's enough blame to go around!

I's also the left coast market. There isn't a whole lot of FSC out that aways, so they are trying to "showcase" who they can.

Of course winning helps as well. As always. In everything.

I concur, that was what I was trying to get people to see.

Yep, this game was ALREADY scheduled as a 2013-2014 home and home before ESPN picked it up. EWU lost @ SHSU last season. SHSU was in the NC game in 11' and 12' and won an opening round game last season.
http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_iaa...esults.php

Over the last 3 seasons these 2 teams have done more than anyone outside of NDSU and GSU (who made 3 straight semis 10'-13' before 7-4 last season). SHSU @ EWU was the OOC game of the year pre season.

Somewhat on-topic with the idea of a purple turf: apparently we now have purple tennis courts on campus (awaiting the lines to be painted). Announced on FB by JMU Men's Tennis and reposted by JMU Sports (not sure if this image will work...)

While I hate the idea of a purple football field, I really like this idea. It doesn't seem like too far of a change from the typical blue court. I never played competitive tennis beyond the youth level so I wouldn't know if serious players will have any complaints. Hopefully our players like the new courts.

I wonder if they can use gold (or yellow) nets instead of the standard white. Probably not, but gold lines and a gold net would really complete the look.

Glad they finally resurfaced those old cracked up courts. I like the purple tennis courts, but I would hate an all-purple field. I hate the EWU red field and the Central Arkansas purple/gray field is awful too. I don't want JMU to be known for a gimick field.

RE: OT: Coastal Carolina will have a teal turf
Boise States blue field (think they started this whole trend) is a bit hard on the eyes also. I remember watching a bit of a game from there on TV and their players were dressed in blue, very hard to see.

Would not want to see Bridgeforth with a purple field also. If I had my druthers it would be a natural grass field but I understand
why field turf is used.

I loathe and detest this trend. It is the worst thing that has happened in sports since the evil, satantic, communist infiltrating designated hitter rule. Green is good.
