Upcoming CUSA TV contract negotiations: TAMU launches spanish radio Sirius
With schools in heavy Hispanic populated areas such as FIU, UTSA, and UTEP, CUSA should look at separately bidding some of the games from these three schools on Hispanic TV or allowing telecasts on Hispanic networks at the same time the game is available with ESPN, FOX, CBSS, or Sinclair. Just to see what happens....if nothing happens, well then, forget it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

With Texas continuing to be a strong, bilingual state, this move only makes sense. A&M recently opened two new Prospective Student Centers in the Rio Grande valley, one in McAllen and one in Laredo to encourage applicants from deep south Texas area.

We have a truce, we take the smart, talented HS kids who want tongi to the best school in Texas.

They get all the Walmart shoppers that want a cheap t-shirt/hat for $5

You are really setting yourself up. Those "tongi" kids do want to go to A&M. They couldn't get into Texas.04-cheers

When did A&M last when a national championship? Right 1938.
When did A&M last win a conference championship or even a division championship? Right 1998.
When did A&M last finish the season in the top 5. I don't know, but they haven't since at least 1968.

And academic smack vs. Texas? That would be silly even if you actually did go to A&M.

A&M is all worked up because they finished 3rd and 4th in their division the last 2 years. I realize that is an improvement over where they usually finished in the Big 12 South, but really?

I knew A&M had a solid history, but I honestly didn't know that they had ever won a national championship (1939) -- good for them.

Moving to the SEC was helpful to Texas A&M in every possible way. They will be reaping the benefits of that for decades to come.

Texas a&m has been on their 'SEC honeymoon' for awhile now. But I doubt that the Aggie faithful will remain excited about 3rd, 4th, or worse divisional finished by Sumlin and co for too much longer. Maybe I'm wrong, we shall see.

We're gonna be just fine.

All this deep concern from the other Texas schools is very telling.

But all one has to do is see the recruiting rankings to see that we're heading in the right direction

JFF hid the fact that we don't yet fully have the level of talent needed to compete at the top of the SEC West (ie the toughest division in CFB) but we are getting the talent we need on both sides of the ball as Texas blue chips flock to represent their state in CFBs best league (ie what horns and friends are REALLY pissed about), and after experiencing it, Little 10 football simply can't hold a candle to the SEC experience so there is zero regret on leaving that failed experiment behind.

Back to the OP topic, which is actually an interesting one: note that we have now seen Univision and Telemundo beat the Big 4 over-the-air networks in the age 18-49 demo enough times that it's no longer news when it happens. The World Cup viewership on Spanish channels were legitimately *massive* even compared to the ratings that ESPN was able to garner. Spanish language sports rights could very well be the next growth area for top sports leagues.

Beyond the valley, the Texas AD has actually kicked around the idea of a football game in Mexico City.

Bullet, is the USC game in Mexico City not a done deal? I thought that it had already been agreed to.
