I'd say that's a gross misinterpretation of people.

Now if you want to say something like...."hey, we've beaten you 3 years in a row....shut your pie holes...etc...etc...etc.." Then I'd be more inclined to listen to you. But 3 wins in a row, doesn't make ANYONE want to be an EMU fan over a WMU. Or the other way around if the tables were turned.

Dear EA3,
We obviously disagree. You have your opinion and I have mine.

I kind of like the Factory gig. Time to punch in, Ken.

Dear Dirty Ernie,
I already have. There's a card on the board with your name on it. You better punch in quickly so as not to be late. Otherwise you will be docked.

Since we have beaten you three years in a row, and maybe four this season, people would much rather be an EMU than a Bronco.

Ken -

As the article clearly points out... Mike Hart is really enjoying the campus AND the city of Kalamazoo. I have been to EMU and spent time in Ypsi... sure, it has some of its own charm, but honestly Kalamazoo is a much, much, much more enjoyable place to hang your hat... sure, its my opinion, but one that is coated in quite a few FACTS...

It's time that he gets his RB's on track here at WMU so that we can get that EMU monkey off our back this year...

Dear flushtheherd,
The article that you are referring to of course is going to praise Western and Kalamazoo. This is his new employer, and place of residence. I have never read of any new hire that denigrated his hire or place of residence.
What facts do you speak of? So far it is just your opinion.

Come on Ken.

You know Ypsilanti, and you presumably know Kalamazoo. Which community would say has a better downtown, better community to live in and raise a family, more amenities, etc.?

I don't think there's much different between Ypsi and Kzoo. Each have their positives and negatives.

What are the positives to Ypsi? Seriously wondering.

RE: Drew interview with Mike Hart-------Great
Ive been to Ypsi quite a few times. Dated a girl in Ann Arbor a few years back and we would go there from time to time for a change of scenery. The town did have its charm... but as I stated... It's no Kalamazoo.

I now live in Grand Rapids... and I LOVE the downtown here... but its also... not Kalamazoo.

FACT: Bell's is NOT in Ypsi
FACT: Best Blue Cheese Burger EVER (O'Duffy's Tavern)... NOT in Ypsi
FACT: Kalamazoo beer exchange (greatest concept beer tavern .. awesome) NOT in Ypsi
FACT: WMU... NOT in Ypsi... enough said. :)

Dear flushtheherd,
Those are opinions. The one thing that Kalamazoo has, is the scholarship program for public school graduates. If it is still in effect a definite positive.
Ypsilanti also has restaurants and taverns that are highly thought of, but those are not facts in and of themselves.

I'd put Kalamazoo's restaurants and taverns up against just about any in state of MI except maybe Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor.

You're not limited to just Ypsi when you attend EMU.

Dear wmutkelaw,
The usual response from you. Something that occurred years ago, and really has nothing to do with the conversation about Mike Hart and the ambience of Kalamazoo, or Ypsilanti.
As I have said though, typical from you.

Come on Man!! Not even a CMU fan would agree with you on this one. At least in this one, there is a legitimate rivalry between the schools. NOBODY, gives a rats @$$ about EMU or would prefer to have anything to do with them over ANY other school or mascot.

Dear Ken Barna, (so formal)

It has everything to do with the hole of a school you dedicate yourself to. (it is message board, relax!)

Take this for what it is worth, I actually respect the hell out of you for being loyal to your school. Honestly, I wish more people would possess your loyalty for their school, versus graduating from say WMU or EMU and then dedicating themselves to some other school.

RE: Drew interview with Mike Hart-------Great
Let us not forget John Norman Collins, dubbed "The Coed Killer."

Collins helped put Ypsi and Eastern on the national stage when he went on a serial killing spree.

If I were in charge of WMU orientation, I'd make a brief stop at certain spots on campus and highlight some of the social activism that WMU students have come out for.

Orientation leader: "And it was here at this spot where 2000 Western students turned out to remember the loss of a 19 year old Eastern Michigan coed who was brutally murdered by the EMU Coed Killer. John Norma Collins slaughtered more than 5 coeds during his killing spree in and around EMU and Yspi, and each time thousands of WMU students turned out to condemn the violence at Eastern Michigan.

Now if you'll step this way you'll see the beautiful fountain in front of Miller Auditorium. Jerry Seinfeld and Tosh O are scheduled to play this year, along with the hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys. Let's walk."

Parents turning to each other........."Well, I don't think we'll be making that visit to Eastern 03-pissed

"If you'll turn to your right, this is where student's rallied in support of a Mt. Pleasant resident who was brutally kicked to death by 7 members of the Central Michigan Football team. Now if you'll follow me, we'll head over to Rood Hall where the WMU nuclear accelerator is located."........................

Dear Chipdip2,
If I chose to do the research, I'm sure I could find some unsavory news from the past of Western Michigan University. You are from the same school of thought as some others on this board.
Bringing up some thing that occurred decades ago, as if that has any bearing on the argument that this is going to destroy Eastern or Ypsilanti is just stupid. Here is some thing to think about...If Eastern beats Western again this fall, you will hear from me reminding you of it. Constantly!
