Did you donate money straight to ALS or a foundation like Steve Gleason's?

I just dropped money to Kevin Turner's Foundation.

Waiting for my new debit card to come in and then donating to Team Gleason.
Very nice. Have you seen Gleason's, Brees' and the other QBs for the Saints, and SP's challenges yet?

I did Turner's because a buddy of mine played at Bama and Kevin Turner was like a mentor to him during that time. I believe Turner was in the NFL and would do stuff for Bama during the offseason.

I saw their videos but not any specific challenges. Loved the Brees QB challenge one. We're doing a QB challenge esque mirroring of it on Saturday as a Tulane club.

Is it silly, yes. Is it doing a great job of raising money, yes and that is what is important.

Some of these challenges gone wrong are pure comedy. Many people don't know that water is heavy apparently.

Somebody telling someone else to dump ice water on themselves
or give money to a charity seems particularly one-sided.

The challenge should be contractual to both parties... as in one person
agrees to give to a charity if another person agrees to take the ice bucket.

Most people that are dumping water on their heads are also donating, at least the people I know who has done it are donating as well.

RE: Ice bucket challenge
Starting last winter the rage in the national fire service was the "Cold Water Challenge". It is believed to have been started by a firefighter in Pennsylvania as a way to raise money for a local sick child. It went a whole lot further than that.
It is essentially the same as the ice bucket challenge, except at times it got much bigger, and the charities tended to be fire service related like the National Fallen Firefighters Fund or around here the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Two of my favorites

I did mine in the tailrace of a local mill pond. The guy who challenged me was one of my former rookies who now works crash fire rescue on an airbase. He did his in the tank of one of their crash trucks.
