These are great points and any conference would be proud of what the AAC has accomplished in year one. Keep it up folks. Build this thing!

This is great. No other G5 is doing anything close.

It's a far cry from the Marinatto years, when we got a proposed Villanova upgrade instead.

This will drive earned media. I bet we get stories in various papers in the next few days. Small dollars for big exposure.

Very good ad. Easily the most proactive Comish in the G5. My guess is that by running it the Sports Business Journal Aresco wants a certain type of eyes looking at us. Aresco is looking for any kind of leverage he can find in order to raise our profile but more importantly our money profile.
It is smart to let all of the networks with sports programming know what type of product we have. If we don't get the deal we want with ESPN, we have to have options for other sports networks. It is also good to let ESPN know that should not be taken for granted that they are not the only game in town. I like it.

I think someone is whispering in his ear "Keep pushing the POWER label" and have every member in the AAC agree with everything p5.

What do we hope to accomplish?
More voting power? A bigger slice of the playoff pie?
Because I cannot see the P5 giving us an AQ bid to an access bowl.
I posted awhile back that on that front, the best we could hope for is a play-in game every year where our champ played the top rated champ from the other 4 every year.

I think hes more appealing to the sportswriter narrative. If the writers will write about us positively or even on a neutral ground. Maybe question the P5/G5 rhetoric, we can be successful in positioning the public opinion narrative.
We have to win over the messenger first. Then all the cards will follow. We're playing the long game.

Be honest AAC fans, how many of those OOC games will the conference win?

Who knows until the games are played. Fwiw, the ECU v. South Carolina game will probably go to South Carolina, but ECU v. VT and ECU v. UNC are probably toss ups.

What does it matter to you? No one can predicate how many OOC games any conference will win. Aresco however is doing a great job with the conference. We can control the things we can and let go of the things we can not control.
Aresco is taking control of the message and not allowing others to define this conference without a fight.

There's also a multi-page spread on Yulman stadium in the same issue.
Nice synergy.
(That is from Tulane's VP Yvette Jones, who tweeted this out.)

Promoting the OOC games put more eyeballs on TV too. Better TV ratings and brand promotion to the general public can only help when media rights deals get renegotiated. Aresco wants people to know who the AAC is.

Thank you, Mr. Aresco, for including BYU in the list of quality bowl games and quality opponents. BYU and the American can be great allies, if nothing else.
I'm looking forward to the game at UConn in 10 days! And the Houston-BYU game last year and UCF-BYU game the year before were both competitive and exciting. I expect the same this year!
O'Korn is a great quarterback, so that game on a short week scares me. Travel from Utah to the East Coast is always an adventure, so you have to take both UConn and UCF seriously. I expect the Cougars to beat UConn, but some recent player suspensions (top running back and a contributing wide-out) give me some pause. UCF has to replace some legit offense, but the defense is underrated and could shut down the BYU passing game. I'm hoping the team shows up and travel well.
Good luck!

Snooze.
Those of us that don't participate too much in social media could care less about a twitter ad.
Put ads on MAINSTREAM media. USA Today, ESPN, etc.
Social Media is cheap (free) and not taken seriously. Anyone posting on this forum could do it at ZERO cost.
Sitting in front of a few computer screens during work, I have ZERO interest in twitter, following tweets, etc. Likewise, I post on Facebook months apart.
