Somebody who gets it. All those expenses? DD should have just paid those out of pocket.

So you apologize for insisting DD spend his own time and money covering MAC Media Day? Fine, I'll leave it at that. Takes a man to admit his mistakes. Or you can just backpedal, spin and deflect.

No. I didn't insist on anything...and I'm certainly not apologizing for my viewpoint. I am sorry that I responded to your prick comment. I should have ignored it. I still believe that he should have gone to media day. I'm not sure what world you and Nacho live in that requires an overnight stay in Detroit when free lunch is served at 11 AM and the interviews end at 4. But whatever, keep making those huge leaps.

It's truly a sad state of journalism these days at the Gazette.

Lol $40.00. Where do you live? Gas that cheap over there? Plus, it's a long day, if you want the writer to have articles out there the next day you best get him a hotel room. Oh yeah, you gotta pay your writer his wage too. The dude needs to eat doesn't he? Add another zero there, pal. $400.00 min. Not worth it in my opinion when there are multiple other ways for people who care to read about what happened at the media day. I understand that getting coverage could increase Bronco popularity but we ain't UM. The only people to care to read that stuff are the 10 losers here and the other 5 losers that post on MLive.

250 miles round trip is less than $50 if you have a car that averages at least 20 mpg. Do the math. It's a day trip to Detroit for media day. It's even less to travel to Ypsi for a 7 pm game. They even have free food for the media at both venues. No hotel needed for either.

I like how you two answer for one another. 03-cloud9 NTTAWWT

You continue to prove your ignorance as to how the world of media and reporting work with every post you make about "day trip" and all that crap. Again, why don't you tell us your employer (if you have one) and your profession so we may judge how you spend your time? If you're an entrepreneur, great, more power to you. Other that that, you're just full of sh1t and you prove it with every post.

Drive two hours, work eight or nine, drive two back? Sounds real safe.

I've driven back and forth between Kalamazoo and Detroit MANY times. I have a Crossover/SUV. It takes me about a half tank to get there and about a half tank to get back. To fill my tank costs about $40.

I believe Media Day lasted from 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Wake up call at 7:00 a.m. and eat breakfast in the luxury of your own home. Leave Kalamazoo at 8:00 a.m. to give yourself enough time and get there a little early. Write a quick article at the end of the day to hit deadline and then head home around 5:00 p.m. or so gets you back home close to dinner time.

MAC pays for your lunch. No hotel room needed. No food costs needed. Write more articles in the evening when you get back, or the next subsequent days. So yeah, $40 should about do it.

I'm betting nearly every other MAC town newspaper was represented at MAC Media Day, as they should be. Hell, CMU had two guys there.

Again, pathetic.

Umm, clearly you are proving your ignorance as well.

Take last year's Northwestern game for example. Drive 3 hours to Evanston for a 9:00 p.m. game, work 6-7 hours -- pre-game, during game, post-game press conference and interviews, sit in press box and churn out articles to hit deadline for another 1-2 hours -- drive back home around 4:00 a.m. (no hotel room)

You're right, it's not exactly "safe" but that's pretty much the life of a journalist these days during football season.

Here comes another 20 pages of the same old crap.

Personally, I appreciated todays chat. And I will leave it at that.

You mention DD and the ex hobbyists who stayed in a Holiday Inn last night will go all out to discredit your praise of DD, his work, and how they know better from their lofty Hooterville Water Tower positions.

Holy Christ!!!!

I honestly don't understand why every time DD writes something it turns into a public flogging on this board.

I don't see a d@mn one of us writing about and/or covering the team. DD knows what his job is. He knows how to do it, much better than the rest of us. And apparently, his boss is fine with what he is doing as he remains gainfully employed.

Can we move on now? Its almost time for the games to actually start.

I like what was said about ESPN3 and a player embedded on the MAC website and on school websites.
