Navy AD's Comment On Current Landscape
I wish BYU and Army would consider Gladchuck's words:

"When you consider scheduling into the future, bowls into the future and governance into the future, I believe more so today than I did three years ago that if you're not in, you're out," Gladchuk said. "Conference affiliation is critical for Navy right now. Relevance relates specifically to conference alignment. I don't know how you could navigate these waters as an independent."

Navy to Big12

I really think this is Navy trying to get into the P5. Notre Dame has defended Navy when it came to the P5 Scheduling arrangements.

Stopped reading when I saw ole Chet's name......

That guy really put us (UH) behind the 8 ball. I will forever hold a grudge against that loser!!!!

That said I am very happy to have Navy in the AAC.

Too many empty seats in football and basketball put UH behind the 8 ball. Not any individual (especially Chet).

I say that as a 22-year UH season ticket buyer of football/basketball/baseball.

Agree to disagree.

Carr, Gladchuck, etc. all had a hand in the hole we were in.

It’s not like the administrations that followed were blessed with inheriting even the program/support we have today (and I am no Mack fan to be honest).

The only man (and he had his faults see end zone facility and fundraising) I give a pass to in the past 20 years is Maggard.

Maggard and Rhodes can each in their own right be thanked for where we stand today. Maggard for his coaching hires, commitment to play on campus, and the infancy of the fundraising camapign.

Rhodes can take kudos for getting our capital athletic projects done. Not really much else to be honest. That said that is a HUGE accomplishment at this school and getting our fundraising out of the toilet is something to take note but not brag about just yet (we have a long way to go before I give him 100% credit here)

Carr was asleep and uninterested in our school at the most important time in CFB history.

Gladchuck was just an extention of Carr and his issues.

Again agree to disagree. Chet was terrible but glad to have Navy in the fold.

navy was offered but turned it down...

in other interviews his done he's said the AAC is perfect for them, they can compete at a high a level as possible but not put their players in a situation they cant succeed in..

he openly admitted that the big 12 came asking but that he couldn't do that to his players..he knows he cant recruit against them

So the AAC may not mandate conference autonomy rules and leave it to individual schools if Navy can not enacted the same provisions.

Don't the academies already in essence offer the full cost of attendance the P5 pushed for?

Once accepted they are completely taken care of but are then committed to the service for a period of time.

navy is and has to operate on different rules, mandate or not mandated, navy will not be included in those mandates

Navy is probably the reason our rules aren't conference mandated

I think Gladchuck's comments were directed specifically to BYU... Don't dig yourself in a hole you soon will painfully regret, join us.

If the AAC remains in tact and has a year anywhere close to 2013-14, BYU will come calling, book it.

From a Navy site

In fact, Midshipmen (at Navy) and Cadets (at Air Force and Army) pull in $11,692 per year which equates to $3,897 for a four-month football season. That is in addition to a four-year full scholarship each receives which is worth somewhere in the $400,000 ballpark.
