Who is your week 1 upset alert for?
I have quite a stunner predicted, Jacksonville State walking into East Lansing and stunning the Spartans. Hopefully no one has the Blue Hose over NIU

Based on betting odds...

Penn St beating UCF in Dublin
Wisconsin beating LSU in Houston

Nothing too crazy.

I would like to bet money against you.

I would never bet money on it, but for fun, let's say Umass over Boston College.

And I'll take Utah State over Tennessee. Why not?

Blue Hose will play us tough until late in the 2nd qtr....then Huskies will roll and win by 37 pts

If we barely beat Blue hose. I am going to be nervous for the year . Need to win 50-7

I honestly don't think margin of victory means anything in these kind of games.

RE: Who is your week 1 upset alert for?
NIU should win handily but I think there will be some rust. Expect a 42-14 type thing.

As for an upset, Utah State isn't a bad pick, but I think Tennessee will be much improved, they have a lot of young talent. That's a solid upset pick though.

Youngstown over U of I anybody?

I could see North Texas giving the longhorns a scare. Most likely is probably A&M over South Carolina.

I really don't see a lot of upsets if any over the first week. Too many either blowouts or teams that are so close like Clemson-Georgia either way isn't really an upset.

RE: Who is your week 1 upset alert for?
Best Chances?

1. North Dakota State beating Iowa State (This WILL be a close game, NDState is DOMINANT in D1AA like Marshall was back in the day)
2. Utah State beating Tennessee
3. Fresno State beating USC
4. Villinova beating Syracuse
5. Western Michigan beating Purdue (PJ Fleck and his god-like powers shine through with luck & the strength of a thousand field mice)
6. Jacksonville St beating MSU (Jacksonville St was 3-1 against D1AA ranked opponents last year; made playoffs themselves; last year MSU started out BAD; Won't be the same this year, but still worth noting as a possibility)

Michigan State started 3-0 last year and only lost 1 game all season. I want some of that bad. Not a chance in hell Jacksonville St or Fresno wins.

Michigan State won SOOOO many games in a grindy sense, and I think their bowl matchup was a really good one for them. I just see them as a highly overrated team right now. They are on my "no longer in top 25 by Oct 15th list" I wont confess to knowing a whole lot about Jacksonville State other than they are projected to be one of the best in FCS this upcoming year. I think they have a lot of speed too which could be danger for MSU. I see this as App State vs the State of Michigan Part II

RE: Who is your week 1 upset alert for?
The only game they didn't win by double figures was the Rose Bowl hahaha. Now they had some ugly ones in there (Minnesota, Purdue) but it's not like they were squeaking out wins. I do think they'll take a step back because I don't think Connor Cook is any good and they lose a ton on defense, but Jacksonville State? No.

You might be right, but whatever the betting line is for this game, take Jacksonville St!

Umm, watch the games. MSU started against WMU. WMU. MSU was up 13-7 at the half, and won 26-13 (WMU went for 2 near end; otherwise it'd be 26-14). MSU played HORRIBLE. Their Defense OUTSCORED their Offense! WMU had their true freshman QB play most of the game with the senior injured, tying it 7-7 in the 1st half on his first play. After this game, I thought WMU would be a good team until I saw WMU *losing* to a HORRIBLE D1AA team, and MSU.....

...MSU then played South Florida after South Florida got *STOMPED* by a record amount by a D1AA team. South Florida was PITIFUL. AGAIN, MSU's Defense outscored their own offense -- and won 21-6. Seriously?!

Then they stomped D1AA team starting to get things on track -- but then lost to Notre Dame not being quite there yet on O. But after that, a bye, they got everything on track to win out.

I feel about this MSU/Jack St game much like I did the NIU/EIU game last year, same type of magnitude of upset potential IMO
