Honestly MT FAN, if you gave some more info... like your age, stuff youre into, how many people you'd be coming with... I could give you a pretty good list of things that you'd enjoy while you're here (beyond standard things like beer and food)

I hear the women's swim team is quite hospitable, if a bit inclined to petty theft. Take plastic sheets.

COGS

Also as for the ecu testimonials most of them sound like they're from 2005ish so take them with a grain of salt.

Thanks for some of the suggestions guys! I was not trolling. I just wanted to know some of things I should check out, other than the game, when I come to town. I'm 32 and will be coming with a couple other buddies. We like to eat and drink some local beer if possible. Also, interested in seeing anything unique to the area. I've been to West Virginia one other time to ski at Snowshoe. I am really looking forward to coming back up to West Virginia and experiencing the Marshall game day atmosphere.

Yep, you guys weren't as happy leaving Huntington with losses. Doubt anyone had a good time watching that embarrassment your team put on last year.

Well we're not sure about what time is kickoff so would that interfere with your events?

Are you staying the night before or staying the night after the game?

We used to have a visitor's thread on our main board and I can't find it currently, but I'll keep looking.

If you want to try local craft beers... Tap House or Black Sheep Burrito's and Brews is where you want to go. Black Sheep has some great food too, and it's right next to campus. It has a a bit of a hipster feel to it though if you're not into that crowd. Tap House is a pretty small little bar in Heritage Station that is very knowledgeable about their beers and has a real neat feel to it. It's also next to Bottle and Wedge, which is a beer store that sells individual bottles of beers for a Make Your Own 6 pack, many of which are local and the workers are always super helpful.

If you want to go out and socialize, go to the Union, The Lantern, Jockey Club, or St Marks... all are good crowds with 21+ but normally everyone in there are 25+ and all are on 4th avenue walking distance to the downtown hotels.

Im looking here and the game is on homecoming weekend so there will be a lot more going on than usual with a pregame parade, concerts all weekend, etc.

Friday, 10/10

Tracy Lawrence will be at the V Club on 8th st and 6th ave http://www.vclublive.com/event/180626

Bluegrass artist Larry Keel will be at the Huntington Ale House on 4th avenue
https://www.facebook.com/events/473866192716234/

And Five Finger Death Punch(sigh) will be at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Saturday 10/11 VClub will have The Jeff Astin Band(From Yonder Mountain String Band)
http://www.vclublive.com/event/180517

-----------------------------------

Outside of that, you can check out the Marshall Memorial at Spring Hill cemetery, do some shopping at Pullman square, maybe play a round of frisbee golf at Rotary Park...

More things will come up as we come closer to fall so if you do plan on coming visit our board http://www.herdnation.com or follow @DowntownHWV on twitter or Downtown Huntington on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/DowntownHuntington)

EDIT: Also if you would be interested in moonshine, just PM me.

I've never made the trip to Huntington, but I have ALWAYS enjoyed tailgating with Marshall Fans when they came to Greenville! Talking football, our respective teams, and sharing a few cold beers with them is something I have always enjoyed! I am looking forward to welcoming all fans who make the trip to Greenville Sept. 5, 2020! Should be a great time!

Really wish this was a 2:30 or 6:00 game. I hate when tailgating time is limited.

We don't nickname the noon kickoffs "Kegs and Eggs" for nothing. 04-cheers
Seriously, tailgating will kickoff around 9 am, most people will pause and go watch the Homecoming Parade arrive, and then go back to partying.

be sure to avoid the ones marked chocolate covered

Obviously you have some issues with Marshall, Huntington and WV. Sorry to hear that.

Huntington is a nice town.

Stroll or take a run through Ritter Park.
Hit up the Huntington Museum of Art
Eat at Roccos in Ceredo - Best Italian food anywhere. Its about a 15 minute drive from downtown Huntington
You will find MU are welcoming and hospitable. Many will invite you to their tailgates for a frosty beverage.
Nice scenery on the drive up
MU Cafe is nice for a bite and watching sports on many of their TV's - downtown.

Stay at the Hampton Inn off 16th St/Hal Greer Exit. Its fairly new and nice.
If you must stay downtown - stay at the Holiday Inn on 3rd Ave. Its convenient to all eateries downtown and Pullman Square has a shuttle to the stadium on game days.

Enjoy your trip!

Check out the Tap House.. It has a large selection of craft beer and many brewed locally in WV.

Don't judge a fan base by their nerdwads on the internet. Marshall fans in Huntington are possibly the friendliest, most welcoming fans you'll ever find.

RE: Marshall Fans
As I've seen others mention, if you would like to clog your arteries in one meal then head out to Hillbilly Hot Dogs and get "The Homewrecker". Here is what is included on said hot dog (if you could even call it that). The current record holder for finishing it is held by Ron Hall at 2 minutes and 55 seconds.

"15 inches long and contains three and a half pounds of deep fried sausage and a deep fried one pound weenie topped with sauteed peppers and onion, two kinds of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, spicy sauce, mustard, ketchup and creamy slaw. It is promoted with an "eat it all in 12 minutes, get a t-shirt and braggin' right" deal."
