Observations:

The Guards

Guyn ran the offense well compared to last year. Not stagnant at all and contrary to the box score sheet I saw posted, he actually splashed two 3's, not one. He had 5 assists, he looked much more like a point guard than he has in the past.

Caupain Not such a great outing. He had 2-3 dimes but only had one basket. We know his abilities though, he'll be okay.

Morman This guy is a lot of fun to watch. He's got athleticism and creativity like Dixon but I think he may be a better scorer. + the offense ran through him(though I'm not sure you'd call him a point) really well. Even when he messed up, he was exciting.

Sanders only hit one 3, but that seems like just a meh shooting day tbh.
His drives looked SKish, I heard he might play some 2 this year, I wouldn't be surprised.

Cobb didn't really do much, had a couple of bad decisions.
I think he has a good shot, just didn't get a lot going on today.

Johnson VERY good scorer, played with a confidence he didn't have last year. Dude will have a great season IMO

The bigs

Ellis on defense is special. It's going to be hard for anyone to get anything past him. He blocks, rebounds and diverts with his length and athleticism and should have no problem at all in the AAC.

Deberry isn't suited for up and down exhibition, he was dragging a bit there. He had one basket wiped clean by a whistle I'm not sure of. His footwork and rebounding aren't awkward, I expect him to be a decent space eater. Whether we'll get anymore out of, I can't really say at this point.

Moore, when he settled in during the second half, and was letting the game come to him; decided to take charge when he had the ball and honestly, he looked pretty damn good scoring to me. In the 4th quarter he sulked for a second and got yelled at, which quickly snapped him out of it. Kid has a nice shooting touch and an all around solid game. I like his game.

Strickland looked like his mind was going quicker than he was at the start, but like Moore, he settled down and did nice in the second half. nice touch for a big fellow, will need to work to stay out longer but no lack of hustle on his part. As he continues to let the game come to him, he'll be quite a gamer.

Thomas couldn't get the damn ball to fall through. I don't think he did anything wrong, just a bad day. Capped off by falling and hitting his head. I think he'll be alright. He seemed much more assertive on the offensive end, that has been his problem since he's been here, so i still think he'll have a good year.

Clark is athletic and a natural scorer. His game is a lot like Maxiell's. He should be fun to watch.

I think the youngins all hold great promise, Clark, Moore and Morman could and I think will, see significant minutes this season.
With regards to the backcourt, I think the guard play will be very good and as an added + I don't think they'll be forced to do everything themselves. The bigs are really big this year, I'll be interested to see what the line ups look like. Ellis will be a force this year on defense. Seemed Mick used hockey style substitutions to get a feel for things. I think they have enough talent to make the tourney, a lot of the talent is young. My question is will Clark, Morman and Moore hit the dreaded Freshman wall? If they play to their potential, could be fun to watch.

Thumbs up DMT on your effort to post videos and analysis. Agree on Ellis - he should become an immediate defensive force for UC. The dude had 15 boards as well. Gary Clark had 9 boards to go along with 17 pts.

We've got some weaknesses but I really like the core ok Troy, KJ, Morman, Clark and Ellis. They are all pretty inexperienced and I'm not that sold on the trio of Guyn, Shaq and Sanders unfortunately. But there is a lot of upside there.
