For those of you (like me) who really don't know a lot about Ridell's speed flex helmet, here is an article that will give you a little insight.

Beat me to it, Aggie. I think the helmets look good, and being on the cutting edge of helmet technology is certainly a plus.

They do look good, Navy had that same exact design last year.

ODU is very good for copying other schools….Almost on par with NC State. Maybe I am missing something but I do not understand the design of these helmets. I got it when Navy did it but what is the significance for ODU?

Maybe ODU should stop spending so much money on uniforms and helmets and put that money towards building a stadium..

More important is what they offer, not what the look like.

I was about to say the same thing. Navy wore something very similar in the bowl game against us in December.

Could be a nod to the program. Norfolk is a very Navy influenced place after all. Or because it looks cool. I really like the helmets and hope that we keep 'em, at least as an alternate.

I wonder if NC State would mention ECU on an ACC forum.

You think that design was copying JMU? That helmet design is a variation of our design that we started using 1999 that looks nothing like JMU's helmet….It was changed to look like this so it would be more legible on TV. Had nothing to do with JMU's helmet and honestly looks nothing like JMU's helmet…The only similarity is the fact that we both used a 3 letter acronym on our helmets. Nice try though...04-cheers

I am sure they would…Probably would not be a flattering comment either. The reason I used NC State is the fact that they are notorious for coping others schools marketing campaigns. Hell they have ripped off Miss St several times over the last few years. Pretty funny and embarrassing if you ask me.

What is embarrassing is not letting go of a conference you are no longer a part of. I guess you haven't met any new friends over at the AAU playground yet.

I was just trying to make the point that there is so much similarity across helmet design that almost any team could be accused of copying another team. Who cares really?

Apparently, at least one ECU fan, who must not have been allowed to play with his Nintendo this morning.

Or maybe you should just stop being a guest douchebag on the CUSA board since you have nothing good to contribute to this board.
