A big loss for USM basketball
It's been confirmed that USM's leading returning scorer as well as best returning player has asked for and granted his release. Aaron Brown was one of the few if only reason of hope for the upcoming season IMO. His release stated he couldn't sign with a CUSA school or Tennesse (previous coach is now there). With him now gone USM has lost it's primary starting 5 from last season along with a few bench players. This upcoming season is starting to resemble ElossX12 all over again...except it will be x29 for basketball

EDIT:
Of the 14 players listed on last year's roster...9 are now gone with 5 being contributors. Of the 5 returners only 3 logged any minutes (Armelin, Bingaya, Eason). IF we are predicted anywhere inside top 10 of CUSA I will be shocked

Aaron Brown was the guy that transferred in from Temple, right?

I'm assuming he must have graduated if he's transferring again. He's talented, doubt he'd transfer to go to a DII.

That's why losing your coach at this level sucks so bad.

Chances are your coach recruited the kind of guys that fit his system rather than just relying on the raw talent that 4 and 5 star guys give you.

If the new coach runs a different system, you either lose a lot of those players or they're not well suited for it.

Well, I mean, everyone's sense of humor is different. Could be that Dumpsterchuckles wants to run more of a slapstick system, whereas some of Tyndall's recruits have the physique for prop comedy or even observational humor. One thing I know, though, is that, at the end of the day, Dumpsterchuckles is "one funny dude", so, I guess "we'll be fine".

Saw on twitter where he had graduated and is looking at rhode island and boston college. Rhode Island would be interesting since they come to USM this year as part of a home and home (USM played there last year)

RE: A big loss for USM basketball
Having lost our last two head football coaches to P-5 conference members, I know first hand how empty the cupboard can be after it happens. The truth is that none of us can compete with the money P-5 conferences can offer, so anyone having success at our level is subject to losing their head coach. I've come to realize that G-5 conference schools are best off when an assistant is able to step in and take over the role of head coach of a winning program. We will, in all likelihood, be faced with replacing our head BB coach at the end of this season. I'm hoping that our AD has a plan for his replacement already in place.

I hate to hear this about USM. As a conference we need to start developing some consistency with our teams, rather than these up years and then down years we all seem to experience. Wish I had the magic answer.

Darn. Never good to lose a big contributor. Hope USM isn't hit too hard.

And bringing in someone who seems to coach an entirely different style... I can only HOPE that the fan momentum keeps us on the positive side for a while, because otherwise, next year is going to be a dumpster fire waiting to happen.

Can you tell, I'm still not happy with the Sadler hire? If we had been able to get Heier or Underwood, I don't think we lose all these players we've lost.

For a lot of us, I almost think hiring an assistant within the program might be the best way to go. The players would have a familiar face, and the system would be similar. When you go outside the program, you never know what happens. Completely switching systems can really screw a team up. UAB still hasn't recovered from the coaching change, and this is the first year Haase will have his own players only. I hope southern miss doesn't go through the same crap, because we really need them to perform at a high level consistently.
