UC Remains a CLC Top-50 Brand
For those of you who aren't familiar with the Collegiate Licensing Company, it is a third-party servicer of branding and licensing for the vast majority of university sports programs. Some handle this in-house, such as Ohio State. UC ranks 46th on the list, ahead of every G5 program except for Boise St. (42nd). UC is also ahead of many P-5 programs including Colorado, Georgia Tech, Pitt., Rutgers, BC, Vandy, Northwestern, and Wake.

We actually had record merchandising sales last year. Given the fact that UC students and young alums have more pride in the university than ever before I would not be surprised to see us continue to move up the charts on this national ranking.

Solid showing. UC in my view has the potential to jump a bit on this list due to the increase in apparel stores in the region. Rally House has now opened in Rookwood and will be opening a store in Northern Kentucky and Dayton, which hopefully sells UC gear. Lids, which purchased Cardboard Heroes, should do a better job with their UC gear.

Cincinnati has a great color scheme and logos; however, I still would like to see them bring the 1990's marks out of the vault. The already use some of the other classic marks and I sure there are a lot of alumni and fans from that period that wouldn't mind buying gear with the old C-Paw and hanging Bearcat. I think we are past the point of confusing customers if they marketed that gear as vintage. The Cincinnati Reds already are selling gear from the era as part of the Cooperstown Collection.

Adidas is is still an issue. Their overall product quality varies from cheap garbage to really strong vintage products and performance gear. They desperately need to upgrade their common t-shirt and entry level products. Majestic does as better job than adidas with low end t-shirts but I can only find their Section 101 gear at Kohl's and Dick's. Once again I go back to the lack of quality from Adidas on entry level products. A Cincinnati sports fan can get a quality product from Nike, Majestic, or 47 Brand for the Cincinnati Reds at just about apparel shop while UC fans must seek out Majestic, Original Retro Brand, and 47 Brand gear at select stores.

I don't think we will be going back to Nike anytime soon. I think the two options for us for the future are Adidas or Under Armor.

Adidas does a great job for the actual teams but Nike has them beat on the retail side. UA would be interesting. I might pick up an UA shirt to get an idea regarding their quality. So far their designs are not too impressive.

Without football at Nippert this season that has to hurt the two bookstore and the Rally House on campus, which just happen to be the top three retail stores. I was shocked to see Meijer in the top 5.

I would love to UC get their gear into Macy's and other higher end retail store. Also, there needs to be stronger effort to get fans comfortable with online retail stores like fanatics.

The last time we played at PBS the the bookstore had kiosks inside the stadium and were selling all the gear.

We have an attractive logo/color scheme.. TO$U has probably the worst logo of all the big schools although their old colors were OK. I say old colors because it appears they are somehow trying to insert black into their scheme now.
