I still think this would be a smart move, get a Sun Belt Western Division going by adding NDSU, Montana and Montana State and keep Idaho and NMSU.

Those of us in the actual SBC West have no interest in making three trips to North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho in a given year.

I don't think we are going to go with an AD that is basketball inclined, App is the one school in NC that focuses football instead of basketball

At least Sam Baker would get rid of all those pesky fans. Would eliminate those

only be around for a year. Worked for stAte, but not the way he would do it probably.

Wouldn't it be great to see a game of goats playing each other. Everytime I see that picture of a goat I start laughing.

I knew I was overlooking someone, however that still gives us the western half of the state and competition with only one heavy football school instead of competition with 6 or so other heavy basketball schools in nc

Well, it's a basketball focused state, but while it'll take a bit of time for Charlotte to establish its program the 49ers are in a football focused conference for the first time. It'll be interesting to see how that alters the culture there.

Nonetheless, y'all need to hire someone who can help App continue all the good work done there in the last decade plus.

Any chance Beasley gets it on more than an interim basis?

I knew him (not well, he wouldn't remember me) in high school.

It appears the good people at WKU disagree with you. They chose to move to CUSA due to basketball.

OK, that's fine, they can disagree. But, we should also acknowledge that if Charlotte and ODU did not have football it's highly unlikely that either would have been invited to CUSA. CUSA wanted all-sports programs. Since the first realignment, football has influenced CUSA. Other factors matter, of course, but if Charlotte had not started football I just don't see it being invited to return to a conference it left because it didn't have football.

There is no FBS conference that is not a "football focused" conference.

WKU wanting better basketball does not change that.

FWIW, I agree with the doc. Coosa is not football focused. If it was they would not be losing teams to another conferences, IMO. I truly believe the reason the SBC lost WKU and MTSU are because they are basketball focused schools and they felt a better fit in that conference.

Well, we can agree that's a different kettle of worms. CUSA has potential, as does the SBC, but it seems to me both conferences are fighting for a small piece of the pie.

Doesn't have anything to do with who the next joker will be,
but do not consider coosa very football oriented.
