What those pictures didn't show very well or at all was all the people under and in the upper decks as well as the luxury boxes, BC, and CC which had more people in them than I have seen since Roddy White was catching passes for the Green & Gold.

It's like I tell the media types. No we don't draw 100K but at lest give us credit for what we do draw. Why do we continue to belittle our own attendance? It amazes me.

Oh and if you look at the pictures of Tulane's 30K seat stadium it appears our crowd for the Troy game would come close to filling it.

Legion field now seats 71,594. The end zones has 24 of the 45 sections. For this discussion, I would say that at MOST the East and West Stands might seat 55,000 (leaving only a small 17 K in the end zones). This would mean that if all of the West side Troy fans moved to the East UAB stands, Then every seat in the combined fans side would need to be completely full in order to have 27 k +. IMHO it is not close

In order to view a pictures see Blazer Dave post on page 9 of the Troy Score and Attendance String.

Sorry I do not know how to post jpegs but I will be glad to send a private email

Blazr is correct about the turnstile count and why. Don't any of you remember all the bitching when they used to waive people around the turnstiles

We laughed at Troy years ago when they made that excuse.

However for the record my knick name uabbean is from being a financial administrator at UAB for over a decade. For five or six years I directly reviewed the athletic department budget for the athletic committee and have often reviewed various athletic projects including a early stadium feasibility study. During that time(unlike now), I could post or reveal very little of related financial matters until it appeared in newspaper

Then I saw several regular posters routinely posted financial information from athletics that was at best very spun PR as compared to the REAL records. Heck but that is normal for ALL athletic departments such as statements as new CUSA is a "strong" basketball league or the great Sabanator is worried about the Atlantic pond team this weekend. For example I remember when Blaze had inside sources in the athletic department (AD?) that said three million for OCS naming rights which turned out as expected to be a total fantasy.

Our attendance looked vastly improved from recent years and I expect it to continue to improve . But my opine for attendance at this game was based on my own lying eyes and a game I played of moving the Troy fans over. IMHO the pictures verify my conclusion but you can disagree of course especially if you even bother to look.

So, anyway. Great crowd Saturday.

I'm going to assume that UAB determines attendance pretty much the same way most other people do. It's just too heavily public scrutinized a subject not to.

So something is going right.
