Scholarship limits
Wonder if the P5 will change rules to increase the amount of scholarships the P5 schools can have for FB, heck even BB for that mater. That would not be good for G5, nor for the student athlete. Not that they really care about the student athlete.

Title IX somewhat insulates the G5's from this....

RE: Scholarship limits
I'm pretty sure scholarship limits and transfer rules are excluded from the jurisdiction of autonomy.

Hope so, they could just add more women's sports. They are gonna have plenty of money.

They could have 100 girls run cross country. They wouldn't need any facilities or equipment and they could just do local meets against instate colleges.

Where there's a will to snuff others out, there's a way. You think a school like Ole Miss likes being most years only about a 1/4-1/2 step better than Memphis in FB, hell no.

But that takes away a lot from their football budget.

Edit: Nevermind only takes away about 2 mil.

Or they will cut out some additional mens sports completely and eliminate the expense.

G5 and FCS hold more votes on this issue.

RE: Scholarship limits
The commish reiterated in the Tulane interview that scholarship limits are NOT a part of autonomy. Also, transfer rules are set for two years, then anticipates some compromise.

And if we don't vote the way the P5 wants us to vote they'll just play the "we're going to breakoff from the NCAA and create our own division" card. Votes don't mean $hit IMO.

They can break away. It will hurt them long term, but they can.

The P5 will always have that choice. But, from what I've read over the past several months not all P5 Commissioners/ADs/Coaches are in agreement regarding scholarship limits and transfer rules.

FCS wouldn't have a say in the matter for FBS, but the G5 hold the same number of votes as the P5 on this issue.

That said, keep in mind that there is a ton of dissention within the P5 on just about every issue they want to vote their own rules on. We have no idea what will get passed. The P5 have talked a big game so far, but it's not like they're all in lock-step on the details of what they want to do. They've been very ambitious, but I think there will be a lot of strife to get what the premier schools want over those who are more or less along for the ride.

You've obviously been underestimating the Propaganda Five, They'll have those 100 girls run cross country events in Bikini's in stadiums and charge for admittance and make money off of title IX. 07-coffee3
