RE: CUSA Soccer. Popularity rising?
I am not a soccer fan. I went to a Charlotte game and the kids in the stands really brought it. They were much better than the "action" on the field. I had a ball watching the crowd.
I'll be in Greensboro watching them next month. I hope the kids make the trip.

I will probably be there too. Went to the UNCG game two years ago. Was a good time. They have a great SSS. Wish we could build one.

RE: CUSA Soccer. Popularity rising?
We built our new soccer complex before we even have a near campus viable baseball field. I think someone is thinking forward about which may win the revenue war of the non-revenue sports. I know baseball is a revenue sport for some CUSA schools, but not for us. I don't believe it unwise to put some eggs in the soccer basket. I wish I could enjoy the game, I just don't.

RE: CUSA Soccer. Popularity rising?
In the world of college soccer, and to a lesser extent professional soccer in America, it is very easy to become a well known entity and compete on a national stage. While there are teams that are powerhouses and have been doing it for years, there are also teams like Akron that show how much more important hiring the right coach is than almost any other factor. Before he left for Portland, Caleb Porter built Akron into a National Champion and annual powerhouse. He was able to convince the top prospects from the Columbus Crew Academy to come to Akron instead of staying in town and going to Ohio State. It took a very short time, only a couple of years, for them to be making deep runs into the NCAA Tournament. He ran his program like a professional team, different from most other college programs. He sent many of his players into Major League Soccer. As a result of hiring the right coach, Akron changed Men's soccer from a non-revenue sport into a revenue sport on their campus. Its not impossible.

Should be a good year for ODU. We host Duke this Saturday (exhibition), and UNC later in the season, and the CUSA tournament.
sorry, but I can put a recreational club team from El Paso together and knock the socks of any of those teams
The greatest soccer city on this, or any planet.
I forgot that us soccer suck city is an MLS team
gtfo, soccer guy
Is it really necessary to turn yet another thread into this seemingly never-ending diatribe of yours about how great El Paso is in soccer?
we have nothing to talk about until a couple weeks, gotta keep the board interesting. El Paso is the Mecca of soccer. Your Germans could have won the world cup in the group stage if they had played in El Paso

The cheap shot at the sport really isn't necessary...
