What is the sentence for having an illegal gun? That's probably part of the issue. That should be a significant crime by itself, even without all the other stuff.

A very valid point. Mental illness is our very own dirty little secret apparently. And our intrusive state chooses it as one of the few areas it has no authority or ability to affect a change.

Its no secret. The problem is that people would have to admit that closing the sanitariums in the 50's and 60's and turning all of the patients out onto the street over letting prisons house them was a mistake. Much like the author of Silent Spring, you have to believe the lie, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

How do you think a gang would fare if none of their members had guns? Would more or fewer of their members get shot?
