By popular demand, let's run the Ideal Conference Draft as we lead up to kickoff. For those of you new to the board, here are the basics:

• Everyone is a commissioner that builds a conference through a snake draft. Our number of participants will determine how many schools are picked for each conference.
• Ideal conferences are judged in the same way that we judge real conferences: athletic prowess, academic profile, cultural fit, geographical fit, revenue ability,and other such factors.
• Selections are limited to current FBS schools or schools that have declared to join FBS, like Navy.
• We will break halfway through the draft and make trades. Both schools and remaining draft picks can be traded. When the draft concludes, final trades will also take place.
  

Respond if you want to play! The only requirement is that you stay up with the board over the next week or two to make sure you make picks in a timely manner. We can run two or three drafts if we get enough interested people. I'm going to be out in the boonies all weekend, so let's make Sunday the cutoff to join and start on Monday.

Is this open to SEC fans only?

I have been invited a couple times. It is fun and incorporates many different perspectives from SEC folks, Big Ten folks, PAC folks and even some G5 folks have gotten into it I think.

It is open to all and that makes it fun.

Lenville, you didn't say if you were in, so pick 4th if you are in. We'll try to keep it realistic. If only 3 of us participate, let's each pick 20 teams and break after 10 for trades. If Lenville plays, we can do 4x16. JR and H1, I know you usually sit out, but feel free to join and go 5th and 6th. Same for you, Marshall. Any number from 3 to 7 "commissioners" is a good number.

I'll send Medic a remember this morning to pick. With 5 of us, let's do a somewhat realistic scenario, which would be 14 schools in each conference. There are about 70 schools that could bring value to an existing P5, but it is slim pickings after that. Below is our order for the first two rounds. If you notice half a day or so going by and someone still needs to pick, please shoot them a quick PM as a reminder:

First pick: Texas Longhorns ( gulp...that really hurt. lol)

Second Pick: The Notre Dame Fighting Irish of South Bend.

With the third pick, I will take the 2nd place school in the Director's Cup even with football being in its worst shape in years. No where to go but up as athletes seem to grow like weeds there. Being an AAU member and top 5 athletic revenue generator doesn't hurt, either.
