Yeah, I'm sure all the peeps who rammed "Ole Miss is equal to Memphis and Kentucky in Skal's recruitment" all these weeks will come back and apologize, right? 03-lmfao

Interest on a school's part does not equal interest on a recruit's part. If Ole Miss couldn't make the top 6, there is no way they were ever up there with Memphis and Kentucky in this.

Obviously, Hamilton decided against taking it.

It is obvious, despite Martin's bold pronouncement, that Skal did not consider the Black Bears worthy of placement even in the top six. Martin succeeded in creating interest and now he and others associated with the story should be held accountable.

A lot of rears to go around. Didn't TC say it was going to be OM earlier today?

Perhaps, but TC is not a professional writer and radio host.

Cmon man that disingenuous. You know there were offers being considered. Since when is this recruit in charge of anything with his recruitment.

Obviously the other things in play became more lucrative.

Good job, rookie.

As far as the Skal stuff goes...

"I've never said and I'm not saying now that Labissiere will end up there. I believe Memphis is Labissiere's first choice."

That's from his article. Does that say Skal to Ole Miss?

Okay, let me try this again. Has nothing to do with Parrish or his Ole Miss story, so I will spell it out, since it wasn't clear.

1. I take issue with Martin for saying that "Ole Miss was on equal footing with Memphis and UK in Skal's recruitment." He made other similar statements, saying it was basically a 3-school race.

When a recruit cuts his final list to 6, just a few weeks later (with no mention of Ole Miss slipping, in fact, it was being trumpeted even more), then obviously, it is logical to conclude that Ole Miss was, in fact, NOT EQUAL with Memphis and UK then, now, or any time in between.

If Martin had said Ole Miss was highly interested in Skal, rather than saying they were on equal footing, then I wouldn't have any issue.

And if they were and slipped in these next few weeks, why didn't Martin know about it?

2. I take issue with those on here (not Parrish) who rammed Martin being right down everybody's throats, when people were skeptical about the Ole Miss news. In my case, I only took issue with the equal footing comment, so I'm not saying there wasn't interest on Skal's part (or at least Hamilton's), but no way it was equal footing, and now suddenly slipped, with no warning, to be cut from the top 6, which even included Baylor, lol.

Looks like JM wasn't right about everything, after all. Personally, I honestly don't care. I was simply taking a playful jab at those who were declaring Martin's sainthood on here, and deriding everybody else.

Clear now?

No. Where does he say equal footing? That's not anywhere in his article on 92.9.

A tweet maybe somewhere?

I don't recall where, or the exact wording. He said it was between Ole Miss, Kentucky and Memphis, with the others trailing behind, and he said other things later to imply the same situation. "Equal footing" is my phrase. Shouldn't have put that part in quotes.

Issue is that Ole Miss was right there with Memphis and UK. If so, why did they suddenly fall out of the top 6 with no warning? That is not logical.

A sweeter deal? Hamilton changed his mind? Who knows.

Not my phrase. I'm not a recruiting expert.

I don't believe the sweeter deal or Hamilton changed his mind theories, b/c that deal was being touted even today, not long before Skal put out his list.

Martin and Parrish both made the Black Bears a serious contender for Skal with few if any credible recruiting sources agreeing. The result shows they were wrong. They want to put themselves in a no lose situation. If Skal included the Black Bears in his top six, then Martin and Parrish would crow about it. If Skal does not include the Black Bears in his top six, it is due to Skal and his guardian changing their mind.

It is a nice try, but it will not work with discerning readers and listeners.

It amazes me that folks (not you) skewer our coach but will defend to the death a writer celebrating Chamber's shot and another writer who denigrates all messageboard posters.

Like you and me at our jobs, they should not escape accountability.

Yes it appears Martin is wrong for all of us who do not have any information outside of what is available to the public. It appears NOW that Martin was full of crap, things change, hell the last article in the paper may have rubbed them the wrong way and they dropped him. Who knows.
