I'm currently attending Governor Corbett's alma mater. Of course, Corbett might (sadly) lose his reelection. If so, his opponent Tom Wolf attended Dartmouth.

Perhaps, Lebanon Valley College (LVC) could join the AAC? Our football team went to the playoffs last year and we deliver the Annville media market with the Amish fan base!

SMU law school grad Dan Branch is chairman of the Texas Higher Education Committee and is most likely going to be the next Texas attorney general. He did his undergrad at Oklahoma Christian University

Good information collection, NBPirate. Did you also happen to come across info that listed where the governors and senators went for graduate and/or professional school? Most people tend to throw their allegiances to their undergraduate alma mater, but some folks are supportive of the athletic programs where they earned their Master's/Ph.D./J.D./MD.

Tulane and Tulsa carry hefty political weight in their respective states

District--Name---------Undergrad>Grad school----Local influence

District 1: G.K. Butterfield----NCCU-----------ECU heavy
District 2: Renee Ellmers-----Oakland U-------Lots of P5 Alumni
District 3: Walter B Jones----Barton C.--------ECU dominant district
District 4: David Price-------Mars>UNC>Yale---P5 heavy district
District 5: Virginia Foxx------UNC>UNCG-------App/NC State/Wake
District 6: Howard Coble-----Guilford>UNC------P5 heavy district
District 7: Mike McIntyre----UNC--------------Heavy P5, G5, Non-fbs.
District 8:Richard Hudson----Charlotte---------Charlotte, P5, App and ECU
District 9:Robert Pittenger---Texas ----------- see above
District 10:Patrick McHenry---Belmont Abbey----see above
District 11:Mark Meadows----USF ----------------App state
District 12:Vacant ------------------------------- See district 9
District 13: George Holding---Wake Forest-----------ECU/NC State

Here's the best spin I can do on our congressmen. I think ECU is the most popular in district 7 (especially outside of ILM) but I'd like an outside opinion.

A few of our congressmen and women are beyond retirement age.... not sure how long this set up will last.

The Lt Governor in Texas is probably more powerful than the governor. David Dewhurst, the current Lt Gov, graduated from the University of Arizona and lives in Houston. Dan Patrick (who beat Dewhurst in the runoff) will likely be the next Lt Gov of Texas. He graduated from the University of Maryland and lives in Houston (the Cypress area to be specific). He has been pretty supportive of UH. Interestingly, Patrick actually came to Houston doing TV sports for the local CBS affiliate in 1970's. He went on to own a couple of sports bars (went bankrupt) and later took over a radio station (became very successful) and did sports talk for a decade. He is a very knowledgeable observer of sports--pretty funny too. I used to listen to his show all the time.

Senators don't really have that much power over state institutions in a ton of states

FWIW, Rob Portman's brother (William "Wym" Portman) sits on the Board of Trustees at UC.

The Speaker of the House, John Boehner, is a Cincinnati native and his district is located here. However, his alma mater is rival Xavier University.

Hopefully, for CT's sake, we vote out the clown show (or a$$hat show, if you will) that is our Gov. and Lt. Gov. in November. Apologies for the political slant of the post, but CT really f***ed up electing those 2. 03-banghead
