Mike Bohn Takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
I figured I would post this on here because I know some of our fan base has not instantly warmed up to the guy. Mike Bohn accepted the ALC Ice Bucket Challenge from Ty Neal and has challenged the seniors on the football team to the same.

For those not familiar with the Ice Bucket Challenge the idea is simple: Take a bucket of ice water, dump it over your head, record it and post the video on social media. The fundraising arm of this challenge asks those willing to douse themselves to challenge others to do so within 24 hours. If they don't, they must make a donation to the charity. Each person who participates nominates more friends, who nominates others, and so on

Here is Bohn's video: http://t.co/Ii0HMcRNyg

Here is a related article on the phenomena: http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/nati.../13940323/

After posting their ice bucket videos to social media, participants nominate others to take the plunge and keep the cycle going. If those challenged don’t accept within 24 hours, they’re asked to donate to ALS research or to the charity of their choice.

Honestly you should donate either way. This has been a great thing for ALS awareness, and donations are skyrocketing, but if everyone gave just a small donation things would be even better. Awareness can only take you so far (see: breast cancer awareness in October).

It's a good thing to donate to charities, but this has got to be the stupidest fundraiser I've ever heard of.

Except that it is working. I read where donations are up something like ten-fold since this campaign began.

If money helps researchers to find a cure, I am all for it.

Yeah, my facebook page is littered with lots of people doing it. I've heard the same thing that this campaign has worked better than any other campaign at fund raising and we will probably see even more of these for other charities down the line, which will kill its effectiveness, but at the moment, it is filling up the coffers.

Looks like President Ono has accepted the challenge as well.

The ALS Association reported donations of $1.7 million yesterday alone.

Well done (although I'm not sure I saw any ice).

I not only shot the video, but filled the gatorade jug with the water and four large scoops of ice. I put my hand in there about 5 minutes before and it was VERY cold.

I would say quite the opposite.

Quote:The ALS Association has received $7.6 million in donations compared to $1.4 million during same time period last year (July 29 to Aug 14)
