My wife is from California. She worked in an electronics store there for a few years. On a rainy day when no one was really out shopping, Robin Williams walked into her store. People went nuts and wanted to get autographs and pictures. He said he wasn't up to doing the tourists thing. They were somewhat disappointed and he then said "but I tell ya what, get me a PA system and I'll talk to you guys for a little while."

Robin Williams then stayed in the store for over an hour just rattling off humor and impersonations, even doing lines songs and adlibs from Aladdin, which was popular at the time.

The fact that the guy would take his time to entertain a bunch of shop employees on a rainy day says a lot about what he was like and how he cared. I don't think anyone truly knows what was going on in his mind. I don't think people know much about what goes on in anyone's mind but their own.
