Okie adds Food Truck for athletes

This will be a major separation point from the "haves" and the "have nots".
How much will the richest universities be able to pay extra to each athlete in food alone ? Unlimited Lobster, caviar, Kobe steaks.....

RE: Okie adds Food Truck for athletes
snippet:
In April, the NCAA legislative council approved unlimited meals and snacks to athletes, a far cry from the former legislation that prohibited schools from giving its athletes extras like cream cheese for their bagels.
While Castiglione said he appreciates the NCAA's willingness to change, it has come at a great financial cost to schools. Oklahoma, he said, will spend about $1 million to provide a wider selection of food offerings beyond the typical granola bars and Gatorade that had been standard and to staff the areas where the more extensive selection is housed.
Costs also rise because walk-ons were not previously eligible for meals but are eligible for snacks.

UAB has food trucks and Denny's is opening a student lounge that will serve a full menu breakfast and dinner all day and will be open late. its just a matter of adjusting their meal plans.

Yeah, I'm really not to upset about this. I've been a proponent of making sure these guys had access to food most of the day. They should have more options than just the cafeteria food, as that would get old eventually. That is truly something that is going to the players, and helping the players.

wait a second if its about the players...
does a walk on have any less need to eat than the other players? You would think since they are paying for everything the scholarship players aren't they would need the meals the most.
Anyone that believe these players are going hungry is a fool

I don't have a problem with it, per se', but I do have a problem if unlimited meal money is not capped somehow-- and if they keep to keep excess money that they don't use for the food.
Like, if Notre Dame decides to give each player $50k per year, in addition to "cost of attendace" and scholie.

Athletes don't go hungry. Regular students do, though.

RE: Okie adds Food Truck for athletes
This food crap is total bull. All 3 of
My kids were NCAA athletes and there was never
A food problem. Ever. All of the players
Had food in their rooms and if a player
Didn't have a stock of food one of his
Friends did and parents were always
Making sure everyone was covered.
I even would get a call asking for money
So they could treat the team to a steak
Dinner
At 3 different colleges none of kids
Or their friends went hungry
This is all about the 5 greedy conferences under
The false premise of looking out for the
Poor athlete Getting the power they need to make rules
That give them a recruiting advantage
Above and beyond the one they already had
The idea for the p5 to only play each
Other is so that no g5 will be able
To have a schedule strength high enough to
Ever get into the 4 team playoff.
Then when the wizard Sabin realized
That if we play all p5 schools most schools
Won't get the required 6 wins for a
Bowl game. So let's nix the 6 win minimum
Let's go to a committee invite so our
4 and 8 p5 team can go ahead of the deserving
8 and 4 g5 team.
The stuff that gets proposed is such
A load of crap. Is it not enough that
the p5 conferences get 10 to 20 times the money
In tv contracts and have revenue streams from 70 to 100k stadiums
let's see what else we can fleece
This is all to keep another Boise State from ever
Crashing the party and heaven forbid being one of
The four teams with the possibility of winning
A national championship.
The sick thing in all this was the autonomy should
Have included all 10 FBS conferences.
The votes that we're being cast against
The p5 proposals up to now were not coming from the g5
Schools they were coming from the FCS
And non football schools in div 1
I can't think of any other sports organization
Anywhere in the world on any level that would
Or could pass separate rules for just some of their
Members
Your point of view is totally dependent
On what side of the fence you are on.
If the p5 was just the p3. Made up
Of just the big 10, SEC and PAC 10 you
Can bet the ACC and big 12 would be screaming

RE: Okie adds Food Truck for athletes
I have to agree I could see not wanting
FCS or non football schools voting on FBS
Matters but all 128 schools of FBS should
Vote .
