I would say you were "bowl eligible" both of the last two years by meeting minimum requirements to qualify - but we're not selected due to the effect of your provisional status on selection order.

They also counted an FCS win towards bowl eligibility. And FBS transitional schools counted as FBS games. I believe we qualified under those rules which allowed an FCS win to count and wins against transitional schools to count. But UTSA would have been the very, very last team to have been picked.

We got the 5 FBS wins and the FCS win necessary. But three of this FBS wins were from other FBS transitional teams at the time: South Alabama, Georgia State, Texas State. It didn't matter as there ended up being plenty if FBS bowl teams.

In 2013 all wins were FBS full member wins but there were no NCAA waivers last year and we were not bowl eligible.

If I have any info wrong, someone please correct me.

These are both correct. Thank you.

I'm very glad we never have to deal with FBS transitional status again, and very proud to be in C-USA. Looking forward to (hopefully!) our 3rd year in a row being bowl eligible, and our first actual bowl.

So if your favorite team is not in the conference of the board you're posting on, you can't post on it even while being civil? And this is a moderator whose saying this?

I'm not sure if you were just joking around above but if not, you basically said it in post 11 and 14. If you were just joking, then I apologize.

Not that there was ever actually any doubt, but UT-San Antonio became fully-vested members of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Thursday. Technically, as the release stated “[t]he NCAA Division I Board of Directors approved the recommendation from the NCAA Division I Administration Cabinet to elect UTSA to Football Bowl Subdivision active membership.”

The football program’s first season was in 2011 as a member of the FCS; the Roadrunners have spent the past two seasons as provisional FBS members.

The fact that UTSA is now a full-fledged FBS member means that the Roadrunners will be bowl-eligible in 2014. In 2012 and 2013, during UTSA’s FBS transition phase, the Roadrunners went 8-4 and 7-5, respectively, which would’ve made the school bowl-eligible.

The Roadrunners, coached by BCS title-winning coach Larry Coker, will compete in Conference USA — they were in that conference last year, in the now-defunct WAC the year before — and will be eligible for that league’s championship game as well.

For the record, UTSA opens 2014 with games against Houston, Arizona and Oklahoma State.

The more I learn about UTSA the happier I am UTSA is apart of CUSA. Welcome to 1-A!!

Congratulations!

I have, sort of, been following your progress. It would be great if Army and UTSA could arrange a home and home series. We could use the Southwestern exposure and every program should visit West Point.

This would be awesome. San Antonio has a huge Military presence and this would go over really well with the entire town. My sister now lives in New Windsor which is not too far from West Point and she said that was one beautiful campus. A home and home would be pretty cool!

Army plays Notre Dame in the Alamodome in 2016. Perhaps, a good turnout will influence the Academy to play UTSA. One can only hope and pray.
