Oh goodie.../we haven't had one of these threads in a while. A perfect humorous thread to take away from all the moaning about P5 autonomy.

I am really surprised that FJ hasn't changed his moniker to "FGCU Eagle" by now.

Why? I did not change it to GA State Panther.

People may try and put this on the back-burner but if the Sun Belt was smart we would pay attention to FGCU. If it was James Madison, Missouri St, or FGCU I would have FGCU second. University has a lot of potential.

No one's putting them on the back burner, though they are well behind the JMU's of the World in terms if being FBS ready.

We're just teasing Florida Jag because he's been pining for their inclusion since like 2008.

Are we sure of that. You and GAStatePanther do share a lot of qualities...

RE: FGCU Football
I'm of the believe that the Sun Belt should have a presence in Florida. Perhaps FGCU can be that school at some point down the line, but they have a ways to go and it's not like they're on anyone's shortlist.

If 5-10 years from now, they look viable as a FBS program, they'll still be there for the taking.

Watching FGCU fans streaming from the buses and then their upset win over Duke was exciting. We are hosting them in BB. They were a spirited bunch and wish them best.

maybe in 10 years, but hell, by that time who knows what the FBS will look like, we might be begging them to let us in their conference

Still beating that drum? You have proposed every public school in the South without football and the most obvious example fit your model. Well congrats. You got exactly one right even if it was a gimme. But hey even a broken clock is right twice a day.

If every one of FJ's pet programs made it to FBS there'd be 150 FBS schools.

Again, FGCU has no alumni. Who is going to attend the games?
