Just look at the amount of time he spends here and the number of posts. He posts and spends more time here than he does in the SB Board. Pathetic.
And I thank you for yet another post in my honor.
No one is honoring you on this board.
I know there are several ULL fans that want to join C-USA. You may not be one of them, but I know they outnumber fans like you. Believe it or not, fans have influence. Many people on this board regularly speak to the AD and others within their programs. Including myself. I wish you could understand how your approach is viewed by others. It doesn't reflect well on your fan base.
SSJ, if I may, I'd like to set the record straight on a few items.
You're wrong, there aren't several Cajun fans who want to join C-USA. I'd say it's the majority or has been....though it's not so much what C-USA has to offer as just getting out of the SunBelt at any cost.
I, of course, am against making a conference move at this date for a number of reasons:
1) It's expensive, funds are scarce and need to be spent wisely. I don't consider moving conferences for the sake of moving conferences a wise business decision for anyone.
2) Conference-USA is but a shell of its former self, no? As I've said before, a football fan from 5 years ago traveling to today would not recognize the conference. Why make the jump now if one has no idea of how the conference's new lineup with fare.
3) I believe the SunBelt is rapidly improving.....on the field, and in the mind's of those who study the game and comment on the game....like in the videos posted in the OP. The more I read about C-USA, the more negative comments I encounter about what has happened to the conference.
4) On-the-field performance over the last several years has revealed that our two conferences are virtually equal.
The problem with my "approach" is that I've had to try various approaches when discussing this issue with you guys. When I first tried I was insulted as being blind to the fact that C-USA carried so much more prestige, recognition, fame, yada yada yada. Yeah, it was a prestigous conference in the past, but that's no longer the case and you guys simply refused to hear anything to the contrary. It was basically, "kiss my ring and move on slumbelter".
Well sorry, kissing rings ain't my style.
And I know the fan voices can make a difference, but that too depends on the administration. If you don't believe me, read Tulane's boards. It seems their former administration and current AD basically covered their ears and said, "la la la la la la la" every time someone tried explain to them how they viewed improving their athletic programs should be done.
At the end of the day though, we fans are nothing more than chatter in the background. There are business decisions to be made on all sides and I sincerely hope our administration makes decisions that are best for the longterm health of the athletic department of the school I love, as opposed to giving short-term comfort to a fanbase who wants out of the SunBelt at any cost.
I don't need to apologize to anyone for expressing my views firmly and clearly and obviously don't care how I'm viewed by others. In a nutshell, I'm confident I'm right and every passing day gives me more confidence of such.
