I hope I never have to read that garbage from NC State fans about they shouldn't have to play ECU because "they will take anyone with a pulse."

Sorry not meaning that to be an insult towards Marshall, but NC State fans have loved for years to use the "they will take NQ's" as an excuse for saying they shouldn't have to play us.

Almost any school takes players that are far, far below the academic requirements necessary for a regular student to enroll. In NC, you just have to meet minimum qualification requirements, so if you just barely qualify for the worst public school in NC, NC State and UNC can enroll those players (and do). They may not take non-qualifiers, but they take players that are very close to that.

Wouldn't shock me a bit if they bought it out. They're already assuming they're going to buy this out, just like they will Troy and USA.

I never thought Id see this day. We have played NC State 3 times as a IAA and should have beat them twice:

1991
Marshall 14
NC State 15

1993
Marshall 17
NC State 24

1995
Marshall 16
NC State 33

In 1991 Marshall had a 14-0 lead with 4:40 left on the clock then ACC officials stepped in. NC State scored at around 4:20 and then got the ball back with 1:30 left to go and some how we had 3 holding calls on 3 3rd 8 or better. NC State scores with 21 seconds left to go and then promptly gets not 1, not 2 but 3 tries at a 2 point conversion.

In 93 we had 10 points taken off the board because of phantom penalties.

We've tried to get a series with NC State at least 5 times since Marshall has moved to IA and they have been noncooperative till now.

AACk board that way ------>

You are in the wrong F'N neighborhood....Its funny how many of these Whoston, WhoCFers, ECWho'ers still stalk this board. I have never gone to the BE/AAck board and you could come check my computer and see. For there is nothing and I mean nothing that interests me over there...

BTW check the Scoreboard

ECWho 28
Marshall 59
FINAL

Ive still never had anyone explain to me why a school would go for 2 when down 33 with 1:43 left on the clock. As if that would get them closer to a come back. If Marshall had not put their 3rd string and walk-on D in ECWho wouldn't have scored again.

Sorry, would not count on NCSU playing the second game. They just boughtout Central Michigan. The Marshall game at NCSU replaces that. NCSU has a history of this. They can't do it with ECU becaise of politics here. But, they have done this to others.

Herdzone, you need to use better bait.

In order for a game to be bought out, the school has to agree to it, correct? I would be surprised if Mike Hamrick agreed to let NCSU buy us out.

I also continue to enjoy watching ECU fans make asses out of themselves about non-qualifiers.

Buyout terms are defined with the contract for the series is set. There is always a buyout clause the contract wording determines what the requirements are.

No, buy outs are written into the contracts, with a set dollar amount. I'm sure they put one in, because it's not just to get out of games you don't to play. The ACC could go to 9 conference games like they were going to do, but decided not to, yet. If they did go back, teams would have to release OOC games. Oh, don't forget who is NCSU's AD. Debbie Yow, the same person who said during the announcement of hiring Jeff Gotfred that Gary Williams interfered with NCSU's coaching search. And said ECU had a "psychological advantage" over NCSU. She also had to be removed from the negotiations with ECU to extend the contract in football, their president had to negotiate with our AD. She is a peace of work. NCSU has done this a lot lately and she has made overtones of going back on the ODU deal.

BTW, I have said nothing about NQ's.

NCSU is currently scheduled for two away games with ODU and USA in 2015. NCSU typically has 7 home games, so odds are that USA will be bought out for a home game against another G5. I don't think Marshall will be a buyout since this is NCSU's only OOC road game.

I doubt they go back on the ODU deal. They just signed another game with them yesterday.
