2014-15 Men's Basketball Schedule
Considering the paltry student attendance over the past several years, I suppose that it doesn't really matter, but FOUR of our conference HOME games are being played while the students are on break.

January 2 - UTSA
January 4 - UTEP
January 10- North Texas
(all played before the first day of the spring semester, January 12)

February 28 - Charlotte
(played on the first day of spring break)

I haven't looked at the schedules for the other schools, but having 44% (4/9) of your home games at a time when the students aren't around does seem a little excessive.

That does stink. I would imagine a lot of students would be back by 1/10.

Shouldn't stop alums/other Rice fans/other paying customers from attending though.

Does it matter? Braun's legacy left a schedule filled with games that nobody is going to have much interest in anyway. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting some non-conference games scheduled at home in the future that can generate a little excitement for students and the greater community.

RE: 2014-15 Men's Basketball Schedule
First day of classes Jan 12. Spring Break just 6 weeks later at the end of February? Seems like a very generous academic calendar to me.

The schedule is what it is. Sometimes those winter break games have decent student attendance just because the other athletic teams around are practicing but are able to go to the games out of sheer boredom.

The women released their full schedule yesterday and that to me was a pretty unexciting schedule. Not a single non-conference game outside of the state of Texas.

Fifth year in a row where Rice has played our first C-USA conference game at home in January. Have to go all the way back to 2009-2010 for the first conference game on the road.

Either we are asking to play at home in the opener, or we should be raising questions in the C-USA conference office.

Those games have to be somewhere, and no matter what we *say* to the conference office, we deserve to host them until we can *show* that we would show up to more later in games in greater numbers.
