NIU ANNOUNCES LEARFIELD SPORTS AS NEW MULTIMEDIA RIGHTS HOLDER
http://www.niuhuskies.com/genrel/080614aaa.html

The agreement between NIU and the pre-eminent multimedia rights-holder in intercollegiate athletics extends through the 2023-24 academic year and provides Huskie Athletics with a multi-million dollar guarantee during the length of the contract. Learfield will assume the Huskies' comprehensive multimedia rights and the on-site management team of Huskie Sports Properties, the official name of Learfield's NIU entity, will be led by general manager Evan Hawkins.

Maybe instead of Vienna hot dogs we will get a better deal from Nathan's or Koshers Best. Then we might not run out.

This is who The University of Toledo uses and they do a great job for us. I think they have helped us get onto about eight radio stations so far among other things.

With WIND 560 blanketing the Chicagoland area (and beyond), we probably won't add more stations to the mix. Sportsfan, any ideas or further info. you may have?

How long were we with IMG ? Were they instrumental in placing us on 670 AM with a 50,000 watt station?

Sounds like SF has done business with them at UW. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. 670 was a good thing for NIU, and I have a feeling they will miss the opportunity of putting a successful team on their air this year.

No. We were already there. What IMG did for us was jazz up our website and take all of our games off of Comcast.

Good riddance, dickheads.

RE: NIU ANNOUNCES LEARFIELD SPORTS AS NEW MULTIMEDIA RIGHTS HOLDER
I picked up WIND 560 in Michigan and Northeast Indiana, so we will get decent radio coverage. Everyone in the Chicagoland area should have no problems picking up the games. The only problem is that WIND turns down their power at night, but it may be after our night games end. For those out of the area, there's streaming.

With WIND 560 as the Chicago station, wish we would try and get something in Milwaukee area. We get a lot of recruits from there.

Cool. Do they have a telegraph line where I can get scores, or do they just send the final scores via USPS to everyone on the mailing list?

Please fax me the information.

Anyone else find it interesting that their marketing booklet specifically talks about advertising during our live football telecasts on CSNChicago? Not sure how there could be with the ESPN contract, but is something in the works? When is that contract expiring?

I have a suspicion that we will see more of our games on CSN Chicago. Just a feeling because I think we now have people with brains in charge who realize the tremendous marketing opportunities with having our games televised. The only thing that concerns me is Illinois State's relationship with CSN Chicago, coupled with the MAC's prostituting itself to ESPN. I long for the day we can see all or most of our games (at least home games) on real TV - like we did just a few short years ago.
