I can sell my car which I bought used 4 year ago, have since put 40,000 miles on, for a PROFIT. And that doesn't include depreciation. And it'd still easily be a profit even if you factored in inflation.
I should've consulted you before I bought a car. What do you drive?
2005 Mazda6 Sport Hatchback. 3.0L V6. Automatic with clutchless manual. Proper suspension so it digs into corners pretty well, despite being FF. It handles better than just about any domestic. Fully independent multilink and dual wishbone.
General recommendations for cars that I would buy ... which must be sort of working class heros. Reasonably priced highly reliable but still well built by a company that understands driving isn't just some boring 9 to 5 working commute. In decreasing order of like:
- Mazdaspeed
- Mazda
- Subaru
- BMW 1 M (you'll likely need to specialty import ... it is BMW 3 M quality at 1 series prices ... it was so good BMW is quiet about it so it won't hurt 3 series sales more than it already has)
- Toyota FT86
- Nissan GT-R/Maxima/370Z
- Honda CR-Z/S2000
- Fords with heavy influence of the Ford European division (Fusion/Fiesta ST/Focus ST)
- Porsche Cayman
- Alfa Romeo 4C (You'll have to specialty import it)
- Abarth
- VW Scirocco
Under no circumstances:
- General Motors ... all brands. Even the Corvette C7 under the pretty body is hideous. Leaf springs? REALLY?????
- Fiat/Chrysler group ... all US based stuff right now with the possible exception of the Abarth Fiat 500. Some of the European stuff is okay.
- Mercedes Benz (Poor build quality for some time now)
- Aging BMW/Audi/Merc ... they are VERY expensive to properly maintain
- Ford Mustang ... even the Rousch/Hennessey/BOSS/Shelby variants all keep the live rear axle. Meaning they are all useless in turns.
